help me figure this out: male throwing pollen in veg.... pics

is this normal. i have 11 serious seeds ak47s in veg. 5 from attitude 6 from seed-boutique. one female from attitude looks like its going into flower, throwing pistols everywhere. looks like that first week of flowering. one male from seedboutique is actually throwing balls i pulled one of and it spilled pollen all over my fingers. here is a picture of the male. all 11 have been under 24/7 lighting.

actually i am a little more concerned about the female. if it is auto flowering is it a waste or can it be saved.

idk man, I'm not too experienced with keeping male plants until they mature: I would keep the female in any case for seeds- maybe finish her under a few CFLs you will still get a bunch of GOOD SEED and then you can plant an army of them (if she is already pollenated?). Either way toss the male if you don't want seed.

autoflowering is no problem - its ruderalis genetics which let it not be photoperiodic, just a phenotype.

If it is autoflowering just finish it out. if you don't want seed you should remove the males and if you don't want autos you shouldn't pollenate the auto - but it could just be pre-flowers.

I wouldn't say its expected but its not a huge problem and its not your fault, just phenotypes of genetics.

if u look closely at the picture there is a pistol above the ball. hermie? very weird never came across this before.

these are regular aks not autoflower. just do not want to waste space. they r in veg 24/7 thats what has freaked me out. never seen this. want to keep as many mothers as possible for the first run to get the right pheno.

i plan on killing males tonight. just never seen this under 24/7 thought i would share. more worried about female and whether she will come around.

Whether or not its a herm - its got pollen. It looks to be a herm so you might not want the pollen - or you might want it (I've heard herm pollen on female plant gives fem seeds - also heard it gives 50% herm 50% fem - not really sure haven't tried it).

The autoflowering thing though is just the genes - luck of the draw - recessive allele making a presence.

Right - well just because they are regulars doesn't mean they won't have the occasional auto pheno - its in the ak genes (I think?).

It could also just be pre-flowers and not an auto (if auto isn't in the genes? but i seem to remember hearing ak has auto in its genes). The description of pistils shootin out everywhere leads me to think its an auto phenotype though, as preflowering as I've seen it is just a few pistils here and there at the prominent nodes not a full blown pistil fest.

these r in my veg room right now. i have a bunch of clones in there as well. not worried about being pollenated.

wow, sounds to me like auto flowering.. i mean, with the female showing pistils, i would say maybe it is just showing pre flowers.. if the male is throwing out balls with pollen, it to me sounds like auto strain. i would THINK your female should be fine though because it is so young. the only reason i say that is most pictures/information i have read about seed breeding, there need to be some bud sites for seeds to start production. like most breeding i have seen is when the female is around 3-4 weeks (w/ some decent sized starter nuggets then those get pollen sprinkled on them to start the seed process). i have never personally played around with putting pollen on the first hairs that show up. never saw anyone putting pollen on just the starter hairs. think you need some buds because that is where the seeds get produced.

i think pre flower hairs are like a vagina.. when the flower starts to produce bud sights it now has a womb to start storing seeds in? a vagina can't get pregnant w/o a womb to store the fetus in tho.. would that make sense? i ask because i am no botanist
probably a bad example since there are pregnancies where the fetus develops in the phelopean tubes

ok i will kill males and give the female a couple days then just put it in the flower room it if its not coming around. sucks when u pay 120 for seeds. expected a little more from serious but all will be good if the others r like the real ak.

well you only need one good female to make an army of clones - and males and hermaphroditism could be a number of factors. I wouldn't go pointing fingers at serious telling them you're disappointed lol, you got some good genes after all. Personally I have had great luck with G13 Labs and Dutch Passion (never a failure) but not so much Greenhouse Seeds - still never had a herm though. Had a lot of GHS failures and even a Sensi failure, but only had the one Sensi seed. The GHS thing was I had 10 trainwrecks and only 4 became plants.


plus I'm pretty sure ak genes have autoflowering in them. so maybe buy something else next time.

i am not worried about seeds or it getting pollenated. just want good genetics for a fresh start with a new strain.

thanks man i will update this later in case someone runs into the same problem. i will post some picture of that female too.

for sure man - I think everyone always wants a fresh start and fresh genetics at times.
