Looking for some help designing a grow room project I'd like to start in a couple of months. I currently have a grow box made that is about to start being used for the beginning stages of what was to be a SoG grow. Now I have a much larger scale idea for flowering. The box is 4ft x 4ft x 3.5ft, plants only have enough room to grow 18"-20" at most, but the original plan was to only grow them to about a foot. The reason for wanting to do a SoG grow is I want to eventually be able to have a steady source of at minimum one pound each month(Preferably more). At the originally planned size of the plants in the veg box it's maximum capacity in theory should be 64 plants (4 plants per sqft in the 16 sqft box).. I am not an experienced grower but do a lot of research and try to learn what I can. My veg box was kept quite simple with 6 32w fluorescent daylight bulbs and a soil based setup. I don't think I want to go much out of my comfort zone with growing media just yet but I would plan on using soil and HPS lights in this new grow room.
Now I will finally say what I have to work with:
I am staying small scale and inexpensive with the first box because I would rather feel my way through the growing process with things like that before I go all out on equipment. I would like to make this grow room efficient but with room to grow for the future (spend money on it as I can, lol). My max budget on my room would be somewhere in the $2000-$3000 range.
I have a large basement (Picture attached) and a portion of it is unfinished and nothing has ever been done with it. No boilers or water heaters are in this portion of the basement, it is just bare block and mason walls with an exposed ceiling of the floor joists above. The shelving on that back wall will be moved forward with the new wall behind it to look like just any normal wall. My plan is to make a wall to section of the back part of the basement to make it a separate room. I am unsure if I will go with drywall or something more grand such as brick to match the basement. I will be able to have a space that is 15.5ft x 8ft. As you can see in the picture there is a small window that is a few feet below ground level outside with a small window well in the ground. I was thinking of taking the window out, making something that can have all my ventilation pass through but keep the window airtight. I will also be needing to run all my own electrical (thankfully I'm less than 20 ft from my main breaker box in the house) so I can do whatever I need to with the breaker so close, any advice on my electrical like if there is any think I can do to take advantage of having the breaker so close (High powered light, idk just wondering)
With the given amount of vegetative growth space I already have how many plants could I fit in this room? The whole room does not need to be strictly flowering plants, I was thinking of some ideas of having one side cordoned off for flowering plants, maybe have a few grow cabinets on the other side for clones, germination, etc.
I'm not very experienced in this, just read a lot, so any and all advice is welcome. I have some time to plan, I will be building my wall and such around the end of December, but I have have things for my setup already lined up and ready to go once the wall is up.
Thank you in advance for all help.
