When germinating in soil, how much should you water? And do I want lights to be on them or not?

I know when doing it in the paper towel you don't want light.
Help pleaes ;D

Yes, you want light shining on top of the soil after the seed is planted to show it which way is up. Ideally, you want just enough energy reaching the seed to make it grow the root downward and the leaves up. The soil protects the seed from the light but even the radiant heat may show the plant which way to grow. Germinating only in soil, you wet it as much as you can, making a little mudball. This takes the place of the 24hr soak often used before the paper towel. Use seed starter soil as regular potting soil will often have worm castings or other small amounts of nutrients that can burn the little ones.

just throw them in the dirt and water it with warm water. expect them to pop out from 2-10 days. I used 2 year old seeds and threw them in my chandelier in my room. I got 7 plants growing right now about 3 weeks old looking sexy

I put around 15 seeds so some didn't sprout.... but I still got something :D
