help first grow

can someone please tell me the steps of growing the best kind of bud. from germination to flowering, lighting to room temp. which way i put my seed when it sprouts facing up or down, i'm using volcanic rock-grodan and soil, doing an experiment. a lot of help would nice, thank you guys very much.
