Help choosing a grow light on Ebay UK?

Hey folks,

I think I want to embark on my first grow, and I'll be keeping it simple and discreet with 1-2 plants to test the water. I have pretty much everything ready to go, except I'm struggling with picking a grow light. I've read a lot of the light discussions here on Rollitup and decided I'd maybe like to go with LED, specifically the 90w UFO light, or a similar unit - but I'd rather have some expert opinions before committing to a purchase!

Ideally, the lighting I'd like to use would be non-ballast, low energy consumption and have a relatively cheap price tag - probably unrealistic expectations, but I thought there'd be no harm in asking!

Sorry for the "hold my hand!" post, but I have a phobia of spending money on something completely useless! :lol:

Cheers for any advice!

Edit: I've started building my own grow 'tent' - just a simple wooden box affair, it's a 1.5m square base, 1m high cube. The inside is lined with diamond mylar sheeting and there are a couple of holes cut for getting cables in. The lid of the cube lifts off for easy access - I'm hoping to somehow attach my lighting to the lid so I have a compact, all in one grow box.

We all start somewhere.
LED's = ££££ at least for a decent one.
90w UFO get 2 or 3 and you will get through 1 plant pretty successfully :)

Thats the lower energy & heat option. Not sure if cheaper.

The other option - 400w or 600w hps kit on eBay with us sunmaster bulb. Round £40-£60 budget kit that works. I got 400. Good results. But for tiny bit extra wish I had the 600w! More efficient. But if 1 or 2 maybe try 250w kit? 400w give you good yields with 2 plants.

Hope this helps!

Hey Dj,

Cheers for the reply! So 1 UFO alone wouldn't be enough? Scrap that idea then lol :lol:

Hmm I did consider those bulbs. I wonder if I could away with getting a 600w Sunmaster and cable, but no reflector. I could maybe cut a hole in the lid of my grow box and feed the bulb through it. Surely there'd be enough light bouncing about inside the box to make that viable?
