Help a noob with small growop!(PICS)

I live with my gf and one day we were smoking and had a few seeds left over (decided to go cheap and get mids bleh) so we decided to plant them and see if they would grow... I didnt think it would actually work, but then a week later i saw it sprout and thats when i got serious about it...

I only planted 3 seeds, and its only for personal use.. i just have a few questions.

First off i would like to know if its to early to tell whether its a male or female yet.. one of them has some pretty big leafs growing on it, the other has 2 small leafs and the third has no leafs (only the 2 main ones on the sprout).. I only have a crappy camera phone which cannot take closeups so if you cant help me I understand:




^^ the one with the biggest leafs... but from the stage they are at can you tell the sex?

Next is lighting... i went to Home depot.. found metal halide bulbs, and hps bulbs, but i could not find a fixture that would fit my needs...so right when i was about to give up a saw a Plant Light and said what the hell... its 120 watts 120 voltage.. thats about all the info they give.. will this be enough for 1-3 small plants? and if not is there somewhere i can get a decent fixture for halide or hps bulbs?



Now fertilization... I was looking for 20-5-5 for the vegetation time(I think thats what its called), and 5-15-15 for the flowering period.. Home depot did not have either so i got a All purpose Miracle Grow (24-8-16).. will this work or should i search harder and find the recommended stuff?




Last question! Bleh... Around how much will one plant produce? and approximately how long should it take?

1. to early to tell if male or female.
2. transplant NOW to 3 gallon containers..
3. use CFL lights.... the 43 watt BULBS they sell at HOMEDEPOT or wall mart.. they are about 10 dollars. start with one light and every 5 days for the first 15 days, add another light..
4. USE CONTAINERS with drainage
5. you will need a room that is LIGHT tight... not now BUT soon..
6. YOU need a timer... you want to make sure thelight is on the plants for 18+ hours everyu 24 hours for the first 2 weeks THIS IS VITAL
7. DO NOT FEED your plants... just get good soil
8. Keep the light about 2 inches from your plants.
9. Have a fan running in the room.. the air should be moving just enough so that you can see your plants moving a bit

do those pots have drainage?
transplant then into somethign with good drainage i use like 16 oz solo beer pong cups for my babies...
As long as you use good dirt dont use soils w/ fertilizers in the already, your plants shouldnt need any nutes yet
You wont be able to tell whats male or female untill you put them into there flowering stage

I made the mistake of using miracle grow soil... but if this doesnt work out i plan on ordering some killer seeds and doing it better..

As far as my light goes do you think it will do the job? I also added a 900 Lumens 60 watt halogen light in there..



Also i know your supposed to do 18/6 for vegetation but theres no time i can really turn it off at 18 hours.. would it be better to leave it on 24 hours or less then 18? thx guys

p.s. the pot does have drainage, but how does a beer pong cup have drainage?

Ok so honestly like 30-45 minutes ago i moved the light about 4 inches from the plants (3 of them) and i checked on them 5 minutes ago and my best looking plant was basically disintegrated and was laying down.. the soil was really dry but i watered it last night.. any idea what could have caused this?

well lets see....plants were fine....u moved light closer....came back...plants hit up....hmmmmm i dunno its a hard 1...

I bet that halogen is damn hot right?

Try reading the grow faq on this site, it really is full of useful information.

Not to mention the light is a major fire hazzard. I have not even seen halo halogen bulbs marketed to consumers in the US in years. My little college alone had 2 small fires because of those baby's. As the others have stated read the FAQ and at least go with some CFLS

trash the light NOW.. and get CFLs.. and keep them much closer to the plants...
