Heat and nutes and burn

ok so my buddy told me that if its hot out(90+) your plants will burn if you nute them. is that true?

not sure if this what happened to me i live in california and its in high 90s lows 100s daily and i havent seen much burn except from when my friend put nutes in and im pretty sure he over-water + over-ferted

yeah so just nute normally then. im in nor cal too it was hot today..
