Hearst Castle?

JUst seeing how everyone felt about visiting Heast castle.

Fuck it ha i wanna go guerrilla grow some plants on his land. WRH was a leading prohibitionist, i remember doing a project in high school for him and straight up telling my teacher i hated the guy for it.

I live quite close to it btw, i see the zebras all the time grazing on the hillside.

If you have never been there, they have a couple of different tours. so call and find out about them.

If you want to see more of it, you will need to get a hotel, so check it out.

I have been there a number of times in the last 30 years, you have to visit it at least once.

I remember 25-30 years ago, my wife was driving and we were stoned, I look over to the side of the road (Hearst Property) and I see a Zebra. I took a double-take.

haha, The property is so large that you won't see any wild animals on the tour, unless on the tram on the way up to the castle.

Getting to Hearst Castle

Hearst Castle is located on the majestic Central Coast of California. Nestled in the hills at San Simeon, the Castle sits halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles and is approximately a five hour drive from either of these metropolitan areas. Be sure to check local road conditions.
Mileage

Hearst Castle is located on California Highway 1, about halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Approximately 230 miles.
From Los Angeles

Take U.S. Highway 101 north to San Luis Obispo, then California Highway 1 north about 39 miles. (approximately 4.5 hours).
From San Francisco

Take U.S. 101 south to California Highway 46, then west on 46 to California Highway 1 and north about 13 miles (250 miles total, approximately 5 hours)
From Monterey

Take California Highway 1 South (about 93 miles) to Hearst Castle. Please allow extra time for Highway 1 which is windy and narrow. Or take Highway 68 East to Highway 101 South then Highway 46 West to California Highway 1 North to the Castle, about 130 miles total.

Things You Need to Know about Hearst Castle

Hearst Castle offers five tours. Tour One is most popular with first-time visitors.
Before or after your tour, visit the Hearst Castle Theater to see their 40- minute show that tells the story of Hearst Castle in a larger-than-normal format. The theater's screen is eight times the size of a conventional movie screen and it is equipped with 7-channel, digital surround sound. No reservations are required.

• All tours include a half-mile walk and 150 to 400 stairs.
• It's not unusual to find tours sold out, especially in summer. Avoid disappointment and delays, buy tickets in advance using the link or telephone number above. If you can't reserve ahead, go the the ticket office as soon as you arrive, even if you don't plan to take the tour until the next day. Learn how to make California state park reservations.
• Pets are not allowed on tours, and kennels are not available. Please make arrangements before you arrive and don't leave your pet in your vehicle.
• No strollers are allowed on the tour, and there are lots of things that little hand shouldn't touch. Be sure the kids are fed and rested so they are able to keep quiet.
• In summer, the temperature at the top of hill can be as much as 30 degrees higher than at the visitor center. Wear sunscreen and hat, and take a bottle of water.

I guess I ment because Hearst was one of the main factors to the prohibition of Marijuana. Much of the buillding was due to his profiteering off the criminalization of Marijuna. JUst feels weird .

What...? I'm pretty sure that building was mostly built off of the profits of his publication business and stock holdings. How would you profit off of the criminalization of Marijuana?
EDIT: There are obviously ways to profit, but for a newspaper owning tycoon?

The tours to hearst castle take the visitor back into time through the interpretation of a combination of many aspects regarding the estate, including William Randolph Hearst and his family, and the collection, architecture, gardens and lifestyle at the Castle.
