Heard of this boycott in the nutrient industry?

So I may very well be behind on this info, but apparently some hydro shop owners in the states are boycotting General Hydroponics due to their being acquired by Scotts Miracle-Grow. Scotts Miracle-Grow being the makers of RoundUp, a product that has recently been found to have cancer causing chemicals. Also making these products far far more available, think Wal Mart, anywhere else that sells Scotts brand fertilizers.
This would then cut into profit margins of hydro store owners.

That's essentially the reasoning from what I've gathered. Also, like them or not Advanced Nutrients has made a one time offer to replace any GH stock store owners discard with an equal amount of AN product of the same overall dollar value. Throw out 5k of GH product, receive5k of AN product.

Personally I have always been a fan of GH so I really don't know what to think. Maybe CannaReview( I think he's a hydro store owner) can chime in on what his thoughts are as a store owner.

Just went through that myself actually. Decided to dump the AN and give "Jacks" a try. Glad I did, works great and is way cheaper. Never know this could be a blessing in disguise Doobius.

I'm hydro guy myself actually. Here's a link:

I use the 5-12-26, cal-nit and ph adjuster. Nothing else and get better results with this than I got with AN 3part, and a bloom booster.

Shipping is crazy expensive to ship here in Canada but still works out to be waaay cheaper than the AN and I assume GH.

Sale of bird seed in 2005–2008Edit
On January 27, 2012, Scotts Miracle-Gro agreed to plead guilty in federal court and pay $4.5 million in fines for selling 73 million units of bird seed from November 2005 to March 2008 that was coated with pesticide known to be deadly to birds and fish. Pesticides were added to protect the product from insects during storage, notwithstanding that Storcide II, one of the pesticides used, was clearly marked as extremely toxic to birds. Records show that its own experts warned of the risk in the summer and fall of 2007 and yet Scotts continued to sell the deadly product until March 2008. In 2008, Scotts Miracle-Gro also falsified pesticide registration numbers required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on its products.[5]

On September 7, 2012, in Ohio, a federal court sentenced Scotts to pay a $4 million fine and perform community service for 11 criminal violations of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA). In a separate agreement with theEnvironmental Protection Agency, Scotts agreed to pay more than $6 million in penalties and spend $2 million on environmental projects. According to the Justice Department, both the criminal and civil settlements are the largest under FIFRA to date.[6]
