Hey all, so I just joined, and to be completely honest, whenever I have to google a question about what I'm doing, this site usually is what I look at, or at least through.
So I figured that since I have questions, I should join.
I'm 23, and I am living with my parents for the time being (taking a semester off from school), they went away on a vacation for a month, so while I was digging around I found an Aerogarden 6, some herb kit, so I pulled it apart, looked at, and realized I had more seeds than I knew what to do with.
So I germinated some seeds for a few days, then I set up the AG and took out the little seeds in the pod thing, and took the 6 largest/healthiest ones and plugged them in.
Now, that months almost up, and I've got some gorgeous little guys, and I don't know what to do with them and I have a few questions.
At the end I'll be attaching some pictures.

and for the most part, it all makes sense, but I don't understand the whole clone thing really. Like, do I have to take cuttings of the plants I've got growing in order for it to be of use?
Is it possible to use an AG from start to finish? I'd love to not have to deal with another medium, I can easily take the light off the arm thing and just suspend if they grow too tall. Which brings me to another thing, I want to keep them small, or smaller than if they went hog wild.
The plants as you see them started as just seeds from this bud that came from Florida, no idea the name or anything, I just know it gets me retarded, it doesn't look fancy or anything either, obviously seeds, I think it's just "Florida regs", but it's kind of a grab bag too I think, it's got some small purple buds in there too.
Anyways, I haven't done anything special, I try and keep the lights on 24/7, the pump in the reservoir is always running (anyone know how to make it quieter?) and I'm actually using tap water, it comes from the well under my house, and is filtered before it comes out of the faucet.
One of the plants has some death on the tips of the bottom most leaves (pictured below).
Another one of the plants has 3 branches at each node instead of 2 like the other 5 plants, not sure the cause, I'm guessing just a different strand or something (pictured below).
Also one of the leaves has a faded area, but I think it's the start of a problem, maybe, but that's also pictured below.
So I have the AG set up out in the open in one of my bathrooms, the plants DO smell, but you gotta be within' 3 feet to smell anything at all, but they're still small and I know they'll smell more.
I have a closet in my bedroom (size can be noted by the standard 5 disc dvd player at the bottom of the picture), but it has a good chance of getting opened against my will, I'm attaching a picture of the section I'd need to clear out, which isn't a problem, but I don't know what to do about smell, or air circulation. Or how to keep the parents out for that matter.
I've thought about putting them in buckets and putting the buckets in the ground way out behind my house. But since it's still in the 40*-50* range, I don't think they'll do so hot, hell, I've still got some snow in my yard...
Another thing about the closet is the height thing, I know these guys can get way out of control, I don't want that, I want to keep them as small as possible, and I know that means less bud, but that also means less smell (I hope). I'm not too worried about the size of the harvest or even if I get a harvest, I just don't want to get caught.
Time is sort of a factor too, seeing as how it's currently Friday, and they're due in Monday or Tuesday. So if I can't get these things securely hidden, then I think I might just have to throw them out.
I don't have a ton of money to spend, really nothing at all. I have no pH testers, no ppm testers for that thing that they test, I have no humidity sensors, I've got fans, but not using at the moment, and I don't want to use any additional light.
