Has anyone used this?

Hey guys, I'm a new guy here. New to growing to so i've still got a bunch of questions..uk how it is. I've been lookin at hydroponic systems, and found a basic dwc system.

I attatched a picture and want to know if anyone has used that one, or a DIY version of it. If so, do you have any pointers or tips for me? Because since i am new to this, i'd like to use a beginner system and move on to bigger and better systems. .

thanks guys!

I have a suggestion, igloo coolers. Especially if you're ok at diy. if not then 5 gallon black buckets and netpot lids would probably be best. I'm not a fan of those totes you posted, here's a diy I did with a home depot tote, The plumbing was kinda difficult but it served two purposes, one to hold up a 5 foot plant, the other to spray the roots that were exposed to air since this wasn't really a dwc tote.

Damn, monster ass plants could grow in that, then again you'd be using up a tub per plant...how much did your diy system cost to make?

a cooler diy might look something like this.....

my advice would be to keep it simple your first grow mate, hydro will cause you many problems, soil is very forgiving and great to learn with, get good quality beans, research constantly, take it easy....:peace:

That tote did in fact grow some monster ass plants. That tote cost about 60 bux I'd say . let me think , 20 for a the water pump. 15 for the tote. 10 for the filter. The worst part of that design was doing the plumbing, I built 3 of those and now they just sit around. I went thru a period of building shit, glad that's over.

this is not accurate, my very first grow was in homer buckets and those totes above, very first grow, I knew nothing about hydro, pulled a lb and a half off four plants. if you're growing for yield go hydro, if you're growing for taste and aroma organic soil would be the best route.

ok I guess it was accurate but I don't agree with it, it depends on the individual and how bad he wants it .

I'd say more times than not your info was true but in my case I grew for two years and was suddenly forced to go to soil because my shit was dying left and right in dro, I had water issues ( think the water company went to chloramine), I got a RO filter and am just now getting back into hydro. I miss it, soil blows for me but I did totally organic and that's def where the taste is. I found soil more intimidating than dro for some reason :/

hey man, thats a sick cooler box ,and your advice is good, i too had great success with nft and im looking to get into hydro again, been on soil now for 2 years just because of the constant fuck on , but there is a lot to get right with hydro opposed to soil. also i just read this thread .....

Right on, depends on the individual and how much financing they have I guess. I do understand what you're saying though. I just jumped in myself and knew I wanted to do hydro. Respect to you also and happy growing.Good luck OP.

yeah m8 exactly, thats what it comes down to, personal needs ,i got into nft so i could leave the girls for a few days at a time and a pal recommended it, now im looking into the wilma 20 pot so i can change the pots around ect and its a lot like soil in hydro ,sort of lol. i would appreciate your opinion if you have experience with wilma m8

good luck with whatever you do mr mack

Thanks everyone. I've done my research and stuff and have grown some seedlings already but died cuz my friend gave me bad advice on when to give nutes. i was a week early and they died. but i've looked up how to grow soil and hydro, i understand both concepts and can apply them. i have the right tools ie; lights, water, nutes, ph kits, temp, vent, etc. and i've found hydro more interesting and from what i read, faster. Either way after i set up that dwc system and grow some ladies, i'll clone them and grow from soil probably. Who knows, this whole growing thing was an idea, then i read into and got swallowed with interest. I'm going to experiment and find what works best for me, just looking for any tips from the get go, especially in regards to a system like that one or that system itself. But thanks for everything guys, toke up :D
