Has anyone tried Self-Watering, Slow-Release Devices (For Soil, not Hydro)?

I was looking on Amazon for a 1 gallon watering can and came across these $11 8 pack watering devices for people who water their plants while on vacation.

Has anyone ever used these before? Because it'd be sweet if I can just rig something up like a hydro system with these cheap, self-watering devices instead of having to go through the watering every 3 day process I can afford to be a bit lazy and just refill water jug every 3 days. Thoughts?

My only concern is that the water spread will not be even in a 5 gallon aeropot? What do you guys think?

Get a watering can and water when the plants need it.

There are 2 guys who post in the LED section who do this. I can't remember their user names but the grow in soil and use self watering devices. Both use different systems which are different from the one you posted.

Look around on the LED forum and I am sure you will find them.
