Harvesting question for a noob

So, im getting the idea of harvesting down. I read the FAQ and watched a few videos. But I reached my own conclusion that your basically killing the plant every time you harvest. Is that right? So is that the reason why you clone instead of flowering right off the mother?

One more question ... Pruning.

What cycle of the plants life do you prune. During the growth stage, so you don't stress the plant?

Also, is prune cuttings, and clone cuttings the same? Whats the difference besides the fact that you root the clones after?

Kinda hard to understand what your asking exactly, but I'll take a stab.

Q1: What cycle of the plants life do you prune. During the growth stage, so you don't stress the plant?

A1: You can clone from a plant in veg or flower, but veg is better because the clone will root quicker, with less problems.

Q2: Also, is prune cuttings, and clone cuttings the same? Whats the difference besides the fact that you root the clones after?

A2: A cutting is the end of a growth tip, that when cut has 2-3 nodes on them. Basically anything big enough to clone. When you prune though, you're not looking for clones, just trimming excess leaf. Only difference, is you're saving and rooting your clone, but your trim is thrown out.
