Guess I better find some better stuff this soil is crap...I can put in high ph 8 water and the runoff is like 4 or lower.................I have been fighting the ph problem no nutes at all just whatever is in the soil ..............anyone else have these problems with this soil ............I can run ph 7 water gallons of it or more thu this soil and the ph does not raise up.................. I tried just soil in a pot and stuck lime after lime after lime water and got the ph up around 6.0 6.5 but now..................... its got so much lime in the soil will that kill plants if I tried to plant one in that soil....So anyone else have problems with this soil does it always have crap runoff and is it just a hot soil?

I agree with you regarding happy Frog soil. The bag of happy frog I purchased already has dolomite lime in the ingredient list which aids in balancing the PH of soil. So I don't see how happy frog can be on the acidic end of PH.

Just because dolomite lime is on the ingredient list, doesn't mean that there is a sufficient amount of lime.

HF and FFOF both really need additional lime added to work well. A 40LB bag cost ~$5, so it's a cheap enough fix.

Get the lime, add the lime and watch your pH move into the sweet spot.

Must be nice. A 1 cu.ft. bag in my area is 24 bucks.

i make a cu. ft. of my base soil for about 6 bucks...........peat/perlite/poop. if you are going to feed.......go cheap. if you buy revved up soil, be prepared to just water/feed as needed.

That must be at the hydro shop.

Look around, Lowes, HD, Feed stores, Garden shops. The most I've seen it is a bit over $5. Even those small bags of Espoma were under $10.

@$24, you should at least get a kiss with that screwing.

I've used Happy Frog and FFOF for years in various combinations and both are great. Sounds to me like you're quick to blame the company for a few spots on your leaves. Keep growing and tweaking your mix and get it just like you want it. Then all will be well.

you should add dolomite lime or perlite to help out pH.

I had the same issue. It burnt the crap out of a Rush plant. Add I had dolomite. I think its kinda hot. I won't be using ti again. I got lazy and tried a premade instead of my own.

I flushed and put some sugar in the water to lock it up some. It now in new soil and doing fine.
