Been moving boxes into the shed all day, clearing garage for the epoxy stone guys coming in 10 days.

I did catch a birthday firefly, it could mean luck. I have a desk and a chair in my shed now. Seems fitting.
Oh man the solstice fireflies ... good memories.

We had two or three firefly species in suburban MD, but central Jersey had like eight different kinds judging by the different light displays. There were these tine rice-grain guys who worked the bright twilight and were gone before the others even got going.

None here in the West.

Actually Calif does have a few species of fireflies, just not abundant. A new species was discovered 3 yrs ago just outside of LA https://www.mnn.com/earth-matters/animals/blogs/new-firefly-species-discovered-california, by (get this) an entomology undergrad at UCR.
More plentiful are "glow worms"; night time hikes along the Bishop's Peak trail (in SLO county) is known for glow worms (I used to take my kids on the hike when they were young)
