So if nearly 50% of Americans have tried pot, and some 60-70% of people in "monogamous" relationships admit to cheating on their partner...
Do you really think Clinton is the only president we've had that's done BOTH? And even if he were, how does that make him any different than the majority of citizens in this country? Isn't our president supposed to represent us?

Therefore, politicians lie, although speculatively moreso than the general populace - though there is no real way to prove this.
People who expect politicians to be infallible are seriously deluding themselves. They're just people, like you and me. They shit, masturbate, and neglect to wash their hands after doing both.
They are no different than you or me, aside from the fact that they ALL have access to health care.

People lie for various reasons, not all of which is to "save their asses"... Some people lie just for the fun of it.
If some random person called you up on the telephone and asked you if you've ever used an illegal drug, would YOU tell them the truth? Likewise, if some random stranger asks you if you've ever cheated on your current partner - are you going to tell the truth?
The motivation to lie in this instance is obvious. You said it yourself. To cover their asses.
