Hanging my bigass inline fan from the ceiling - Will it fall with this plan?

here is my design. not sure how thick the wood should be.. 2"? the green are bungee cords, blue dots are bolts.. black are eyelets and hooks in ceiling (already in place on ceiling)...this thing weighs a lot. if you have a 6" ~400cfm I'm sure you know what I mean. I'm so worried it will fall. I'm not handy with tools and very unsure of myself so any input will be much appreciated!

Put threaded hooks into studs in your ceiling and order some ratchet hangers. That setup is gonna be a pain when you change bulbs or lower or raise it. go to the hardware section any where. Look for fixtures should be able to find 3" long 1/4 thick threaded hook a moon for the hangers

it's actually a fan. I won't be changing bulbs in the fan.

Sorry for the confusion. the platform will be stationary. luckily the hangers are threaded. I'm a small girl and kinda lifted myself up with them a bit. there doesn't seem to be too much stress on the hooks.. but I'm not sure if it's in a stud. it is old planking though not thin board that usually goes over studs.

Are you not using an air cooled hood? Just assumed you were

I took two screws out of the fan housing on opposite sides and made a bracket to screw into those holes. Then I used bungee to hang it.

yes I am, but the flexible insulated duct is what will be attached. I guess the duct will shift a bit when I do raise my hood. I don't think it will effect my fan platform

wow that's a really great idea haha!!! omg. I'll inspect my fan. I just worry about the bungee ends obstructing the fan on the inside or unscrewing important screws

it's too simple it's almost scary

If it's permanent ya bungie cords are cheap and available.

Are you using a filter as well? Mind Idk shit. But i have spent the last 2 weeks fucking with my room. I forget you were in a closet right?

Yes, I am. 6" and it's 13" long it came with the cover slip thing. It was actually a combo with the fan on ebay around $85! It's very heavy. I have empty bike tires to hang it up. & yes about the closet grow. It's a tight fit!

Your sketch looks fine. Use four eyes instead of two in the ceiling. Use four bungee cords.

There is a thread "the neighbors can hear you" or something like that about noise. The guy took and built a square box around the fan and insulated around it and hung the box from four bungee cords to eliminate sound.

I mounted mine to a board screwed to the back wall. I grow in an oak cabinet. I used one inch thick rubber pads between the fan and board .

I also put rubber bushing between the board and cabinet when I screwed it down.

I changed the design a bit. I cut the area below the filter out and use a bungee to hold the filter up. It allowed better heat removal.

I've had mine hanging from bungees for 3 years now with no problems and my filter is part of the load too. Check out your bungees a couple of times a year. They will slowly break down over time. I haven't changed mine yet, but they are stretched a bit more now than when they were new. No where near critical mass yet though.

Another nice thing about bungees is that they absorb almost all the vibration from the fan. That's a nice bonus when it comes to the sound control mentioned earlier.
