Skywalker today. She doesn't seem to be doing much on top.
IMG_0506.JPG
But underneath, even the lower nugs are frosty and turning.

I'm tempted to get in there and defoliate... so tempted.

Skywalker is browning quick now, just not much going on otherwise.

Started the shift today. When the SOG is done I'll fit the rest in there. I need to prop these two up higher, but you get the idea.
IMG_0571.JPG The 4 bigger ones have more room now but I'll still be pruning away some shoots, I'm not letting them bush out.
Looks like about 16 cola in this room. Any lower shoot that grows enough to have its own first node before they show pistils will be gone.

Once pistils pop I check one more time for any that need to be pruned, then let it go. When I prune the shoots, I try to leave the fan-leaves. I only prune them if they are shading a bud later on. It's easier to do that than fight with them to keep the tops level.

2 sets of bud porn tonight. One to check trichomes and one to ask a question.

The Skywalker is getting the random amber, with a lot of milky. Some purple leaves popping on some. a few new pistils popping, but nothing to delay the chop. maybe a week or so left?IMG_0592.JPG IMG_0593.JPG IMG_0594.JPG IMG_0596.JPG IMG_0597.JPG

The Hulk definitely has a while to go. Here's the question - does anyone know why on the same plant, some buds will get tall and pointy
IMG_0600.JPGIMG_0602.JPG And others are round on top and grow sideways?

The Black Widow were leaning sideways then propped up with soil, so everything is looking better

I am done over on the monster-crop page, except for tossing in an update pic every few weeks. They are just plants now.
IMG_0611.JPG
And the flower room smells wonderful! new strains - new smells! Everything is droopy because I took the pic before watering, but it's a real dank earthy smell, with pine and something else I can't pinpoint.

Northern Lights morning again - stand by... LOL

Something else I have been doing every watering is taking a little back-scratcher that's shaped kind of like a rake and roughing up the top 1/2" or so of soil. I started this because the top feed recommends it, but I noticed from the first pot I ever dissected after a grow that you'll get a stiff carpet of small roots across the top.

So in addition to making watering go a little quicker, I think it might be better for the plant long term. All those little roots are just going to hit air and die, but they will continuously put out new growth if "damaged".

Random thought. The 'hippie-harvest' rule of thumb from back in the day was 21-days from first sprinkling of brown pistils to the plants being ready to harvest. Tomorrow is day 21 for both plants.

Both are advertised as short flowering (56 days) Banner is foxtailing, so that probably throws off that schedule (fine with me)

If I chopped the SOG tomorrow I would have good smoke. I'm letting her go because I want to see if that purple develops more, but since I have a crowding issue I may snip the one center smaller top that's more done than the rest. With one cola gone, I might be able to prune a few more fan leaves in there without doing damage.

Anyway *cough cough* knowing when you can plan to harvest early on rocks. as far as planning your feedings and stuff. Tomorrow, as well as being day 21 from the first brown pistils is also day 56 of 12/122 :)

So for the ILGM strains from seed, I can pretty much bank on their "days" guestimates. On their page for a seed it has a description that usually says "7-9 weeks" or something, but it has a little bar-graph showing how long flowering will take (and thc, cbd, etc) and if you hover over the bar it gives you exact days.

The RM bounced back, but it looks like only one of the BW did. Oh well, they were free... Not giving up, but it looks like it's just hanging on. Maybe as the soil dries back out she'll get going. IMG_0626.JPG

And I'm back in my 'comfort' zone. The random stuff I have had to do to fight gnats is finally showing up in the leaves. I have some Capt. Jacks dead-bug stuff arriving tomorrow as a last resort. If I have to chop the SOG any time soon it'll be fine, but if I have to chop the Hulk I'll cry! :)
IMG_0624.JPG And but being in a hurry I have probably infected the 2 clones as well. Happy Monday?

But the middle (smaller) tops on the SOG are mostly milky, and few or no new pistils
IMG_0620.JPGAnd the main ones have a little going on, but not much

So in the grand scheme of things, I think the SOG might be done tonight. Close enough for rock-n-roll. I'll let her have her 12 hours of dark then yank her for a real close look with a loupe.

I may still have gnats in here as well, but I just got a small bottle of the pesticide so I want to treat everything but the seedlings. One less pot means there's more to go around.

They are looking good, All very similar in structure. Here is a link to the male used in the cross.

He is the wild card because I have no info on what strain he was but it was a plant that came out of the Mystery Meat Solo Comp I hosted here on RIU. So on a rainy day, you could research it for comparison.
