Those would be, in my opinion, the best type of light for early stages of vegging. They are effective throughout the veg stage if you have enough lumens
By 250w blue spectrum, you mean they are 250w actual or 250w equivalent? And by blue, you mean 6500k color temp right? Also are you only doing 1 plant? If so then that will def be enough for veg, you'll want to switch color temp to 2700k for flowering or use a different setup. What wattage is your MH bulb? MH may be better in all honesty but it takes a little bit more to run than CFL's.
I tried to work something out with CFL's but found for my situation it was better just to get a 150W MH for veg, and a 400 HPS for flowering. Happy growing
I would go with the good old mh the plant needs to be close to cfls for it to be effective heat is gonna be an issue. I tried using cfls on their own and Jus ended up using two many and decided to keep it simple....they would work awesome for side lighting
dude ive been vegging 5 plants with only 2 23 watt cfl bulbs and flowering with 3 23 watts. that shit is coming out pretty damn good... maybe not as fast as some would want but pretty damn good
I run one 2700K and one 6500K 23-26watt in each light, using the round reflectors you can get at Home Deopt. My plants always grow well in veg, but I do 4 max.
ok... ill grab 2x 250w CFL (BLUE) with the MH600w for Veg
and
for flower ill give it 600w HPS with a little extra 250w cfl red spectrum
if all this doesnt help me on my first crop... im sure to comeback here with some questions!
Thanx to all who helped and stay tuned i should launch the journal somewhere around next week or the week after (just ordered the lights from ebay waiting on them).
