Guy comes in complaining

Moist bales do not freeze solid.
Wanna bet? I get plenty of 80-90% frozen bails of Pro Mix every winter. Just because you haven't seen one doesn't mean it doesn't happen all the time in winter months. No wholesaler will store skids of Pro Mix inside wasting $1000's per month on heating a huge warehouse just to keep them from freezing.

Depends if you know the market and if you know lots of growers locally that will keep on growing. Being where you are your profit margin will be better than the stores in BC or Calgary/Edmonton. If you were here BC coast don't expect to make more then 20-25% average profit margin these days. ATM BC cannabis market is fucked and getting worse. Your other problem will be access to wholesalers since most are on the BC coast and there's one in Calgary called Rambridge Wholesale. Some of the wholesalers have pretty high levels of min purchase when it come to getting free shipping so that could bring the cost of items up by quite a bit if you can't always meet the min order requirements. If you need anymore info let me know.
It's more of an idea I've been mulling around for years but am very unlikely to act upon. I really have no idea of the market potential and no retail business experience so it would most likely be a fool's errand. :)

Thanks for the tips and offer of more tho. pass.gif

Well I'm the 100% wrong guy to do retail as I hate up selling people and I will call out a product if its BS and I've had issues with manufacturers and wholesalers when they heard I was call out products but the reality is if its shit its shit. The most important is building trust but if you don't know anyone locally and they don't know you that takes time.

It took me years to have growers to trust me enough that when I left my first hydro store they followed me 50km drive to the new place I was working at and when the new place went under (that's a whole another story) most trusted me to deliver to their places. So before I started my store I was just working from my home and delivering products to customers to their grow places.

Only other thing is knowing what products people use locally so you don't stock your store with useless items that you wasted $1000's on BUT being so far away from wholesalers it might be hard to keep new upcoming products in stock vs for me where all of my wholesalers are on the way to work and I pick items before work or on my days off for customers.

I like fresh Promix. Makes transplanting a lot easier. It can freeze in the winter.
In late spring, summer early fall its usually fresh as its farm season and there's 100's of farms here. Once farm season is over its a bit slower and some of the skids sit on the yard for a while.

I'd be better off selling for a store I think. Got the gift of gab and lots of years growing under my belt along with extensive reading on all aspects of growing and climate control other than setting up large grow rooms with mini-splits and commercial stuff.

Been thinking about trying some consultation work for all the small growers who will want to be growing their 4 plants once the laws change. How to advertise tho without outing myself locally and getting my own grow busted. :D

I only know one other guy that grows in the area so not big base to start from. Shifty f'er too and I wish he didn't know I was growing but he knows it's small time shit and not for profit.

There will be some money in consulting but if you know what you're doing small can turn into something good. Back in the day one of the guys at my first store ran growing classes and people paid $350 for 8 week course with 4-6 hours 1 day per week. There were usually about 20 people per course Not bad for $3500 per month for 4-6 hours of work per week.

I can supply you with a superior product than ProMix, shipped dry year round from ON. How many skids do you want?
You're too late, retail hydroponics market in BC is all but dead, I expect 1/3-1/2 of the 125 or so hydro stores in BC to be shut down with in 12-18 months after legalization. and don't matter how good your product is if if can't come in at way cheaper then the current market leader and you can get a big group to jump on it, its not going to sell. There's lots of Pro Mix alternatives here but none, even Sunshine mix can match its sales. I can get custom mixes done and packaged here too but gain takes huge $$$$ for just one store to bring something to the market and have the masses jump on it.

What do you attribute the drop in Pro mix sales to?
$500-800/lb's lol (not laughing in a good way) and that's if you can find someone to buy it. The sales in my shop which was the busiest in the area have dropped at least 1/2 in the last 3 months. I went from selling 4-8 skids per week to 1 maybe 2.

When I went to pay my bill at the Pro Mix wholesaler I asked them how much they're Pro Mix sales tanked from hydro stores and they were wondering what was happening with the sharp decline (these guys don't know the cannabis market much) Had to explain to them how the price of weed tanked and pretty much sales tanked across the province.

LOL you and your "business" is a joke. $500-$800 a pound maybe for your garbage. Funny how other folks are still getting 2k+ for high grade. Keep selling your shit to garbage growers bud lol
Cheers :)

Ooooooh 5% of the market selling to dispensaries it not the market buddy. You can get insane looking stuff here for $1200 so you're $2000 is a rip off and good luck if you're in BC and dispensaries can no longer take you're weed which is about to happen in Vancouver. I know lots of growers that sell to them and atm is the only way they can move their stuff. Once the dispensaries are done it'll be a another massive glut.

Thank you again for proving the point I was making. You do not have the slightest clue outside of your garbage shop and weed.
Fucking clown hahaha

So im curious why BC market is fckd right now ?
Sorry OP.:bigjoint:
Too many licenses across Canada which finally cause a peak glut in the market and other provinces can supply their own now. Same things is happening in California price is falling and its really messing up the market at all levels from wholesale to lots of hydro stores closing as no one is growing,

So you also know Quebec was far ahead of BC long before the bullshit excuse you just used right?
HAHAHAHAHAHA
Your stores are closing because of complete fucking goofs such as yourself. Great job!!!

That was BC’s big problem, their BM went to a dispensary model, whereas the rest of the country stayed old school plug (with the exception of some in the 6ix). $2k+/lbs (AAAA) are the norm here in ON...all day, everyday!
