First time ever growing and I know there were massive mistakes made, how can it be saved so there is some sort of yield.

There are 2 holes with the exact same setup and issues. All plants seem to be stunted, the biggest ones(only a picture of one of them) are about 1.5 months old and it seems like the last 3 weeks it has grown just a couple inches. The other 2 are about 5 weeks. The stalks are skinny and purplish, they also seem very stretched. A few days ago after it had not rained in like 10 days( i hadn't watered them and it was nearly 100 degrees) the stalks were totally purple colored so they have improved. The bottom 2 leaves (fan leaves??) died off but now the new bottom is starting to go it looks like.

The soil is mixed about 30% of what was there and the rest a mix of MG, about 1-1.5 feet deep and rocky.

1 possible issue is the holes sunk, and the grass grew up thick around the cage( it has been cut now) so maybe they were not getting light to the bottoms and that caused the stretch/stunted growth.

CLIFF NOTES: 1st time grow, its a mess, stunted grow, crowded, stretched, skinny, purple stems. what can help it?

i know the pictures are bad buc an somebody tel me what could be wrong? or just ideas? the 3rd to last picture is the best example

you might not have enough direct sunlight hitting them throughout the day... if this is in the middle of the woods you want there to be a big opening above/to the south ...i know the heatwave/mini drought wasnt helping your cause at all.

if this is a very out there location where you can make some noise try and cut down a couple trees in the way...also have you given them any food?

but i do think you need more sunlight, holler back youngin

Hate to sound crass, but I think you answered your own question brother. They need water, most especially when you have 100+ degree days.

Agree with nugbong about sunlight. If you can get more light to them, that will make a big dif. Cutting down a few trees helps, unless they're redwoods and in that case....

They'll be ok, just keep watering them, and see if you can work on getting them more light (if they're shaded from vegetation a large amount of the day).

Thanks for the help, i think your right. they actually are in an old field around woods where cattle used to roam. They are set perfect on the hillside for morning(9-11 am start) and all day sunlight but the hole sunk in, then grass kinda grew up around the outside of the cage and i think it was actually blocking alot more sunlight than i realized. i trimmed all that grass and the weeds around the cage

As for feeding, ive pretty much only put miracle grow on it and thats was today. I know thats not the best idea but i dont know much else and my friend swears by it.

Yea i think your right lol. like i said, the stems were much more purple the other day, its rained a couple times and i watered once in the last 4-5 days and they are greening up

Also, maybe you should check your soil pH too, just a thought.

if it was bad is that something i can change since its already in the ground? I mean when its out doors like that can the PH just go back every time it rains?

Thanks for all the help guys.....I i just wonder why the first month the older ones grew so well, then all of a sudden they slowed down so much.....they are starting to show set though, even the ones that are only 10 inches tall

Your plant seems to look alright, could look a lot better though, I'd give it a light feed of some nutrients, and more sun if possible

purple stems unless strain is purple normally means nutrient overdose check your nurtients for solution, mabey also water more often to leach the soil of nutrients that may not be absorbed by the plant, best of luck brother

Thanks, I guess I was just seeing so many pictures of plants that are huge on here. Will they start to branch out at some point? I topped one but im afraid to be messing with them since they seem to be so stressed.

oh ya they will grow nice and healthy if you give them a chance...its amazing what they can do once they really get goin...just learn from 2 of my rookie mistakes dont feed them too much(i overfed and it stunted my plants and almost killed them), and dont be showing them off to your palzonies...they may like what they see a little too much and come back when your not around.

good luck man

i agree with comments, you can check out guerilla outdoor grow tutorial on youtube. you will learn how to prepare the soil with a 10 10 10.

and such.

keep on keep it on
