well the pc grow cab is coming together i have sourced my lighting. venting and a ghetto style carbon filter, soil and a good source of clean good rain water.
fluro tubes at 12 inch long are going too be a squeeze and i have now found they start at 8w. so bang goes the fishtank lighting idea. after cruising the web and various sites i stumbled across a GU10 type fitting bulb.
GU10 is the base type used in halogen lighting, they can be either 110v/240v or a 12v design. as we know halogen wont work well growing, they get super hot and dont give the right light.
now they do an energy saving type GU10 bulb, they use the same design as a CFL. so should give out nearly the right type of light i need. i purchased a bulb (£7 gbp - $15-20 usd) just too see, GU10 energy saver 7w = 35w at 3000k, the other one is around 12-15w = 50w and in the 3000k range.
idea is 6x 50w GU10 CFL all running from 12v source, i will mount onto a wooden board and have it adjustable so now i will have around 300w. remember these are not Halogen bulbs but a CFL designed bulb. would these be enough in a 1ft squared case with a chopped up reflector too help throw light.
3000k ? is this right i couldnt find any halogen designed CFL with a 2700k range. i could only find them in the 3000k range. will this be light range be ok ? for a seed too flower grow.
thank you for your imput and/or advice
