Could not wait to start the training that I had planned on starting next week, but if I wait till I get back from my extended weekend trip I would be behind in the training.
So, went ahead and set up for the vert grow, switched out the hooded CMH and put in the bare bulb lamp vertical. This will allow me to begin pruning the backs of the plant in readiness for attaching to the screens.

There are 6 plants in 2 gallon pots and 4 plant that are still in Solo's squeezed in between the smart pots at present, will be delivering my excess plants tomorrow and they can repot them. I believe they plan on growing them DWC or other hydro method so they can was the coco off the roots and slip them directly into the hydro of choice. Gotta love coco and trying talk them into continuing to grow in coco but we shall see.

Believe I need to lower the lamp a few more inches. I want to keep the very base of the lamp at just above the tops of the plants.

That is a much better method, both safety wise and health wise. Butane is both dangerous and toxic. I use 190 proof alcohol, but you are right can't do in a vape pin, the shit is like very thick axel grease.
My buddy does a 1 to 20 oil daily maintenance dose, but during the day he uses a vape pin
with the THC cartridge, says very high THC. Funny thing is he says he has to smoke a joint at night before bed, nothing else works, LOL. Love that man, bongsmilie

Pens not as good as the regular thing lol

Just a quick post, been out of town since last Thursday so to a couple of pics this AM.

20171030_100427 (2).jpg 20171030_100434 (2).jpg

Just trimmed up the back sides of the plants and will begin screen training soon.
Finishing the screens today, removed the orange netting and reinstalled the stainless steel screen. The netting pulled away from the frame too much.

Watering day, going about a 1.5 days between waterings, letting them get fairly dry to push them roots to the limits.

Will begin training to the screen in a day or so. Also going to Home Depot to pick up a new rez, need larger size.

Day 34 18/6 Veg.

Steadily growing, I want to begin tying them to the screens soon. Keeping the vert light a few inches above the top of the plants but the plants are 19 to 21 inches and having the light at 23" the lower parts of the plants are getting very little light. It's the thing with the tip of the lamp not producing light.

Had read about hanging one lamp vert and one horizontal so I lowered that lamp down around 10 inches and installed the second 315 horizontal and have it at 17 inches above the plants. As they grow taller I will raise the light till I get a plant height of 30 plus inches or so. Then go into flower with both lights vertical. I expect this to take place withing the next 10 day to two weeks. Not expecting a lot of height out of these as they are 70% indica/30% sativa. Read a few review of both indica and sativa phenos and I think at 30 " going into flower I should be ok, if indica dom then I will end up filling 2/3rds of the screens, if sativa dom, then should fill entire screen. Want to see the kind of growth in height I get with the horizontal light.

Does look I will need to put them on the screens soon, the lower parts of the plants are getting close to the lamp.

The bottom lamp cord has been moved further away from the lamp for safety purposes.

Awesome progression so quickly. Really interesting setup too man. Iv not looked into Vertical growing much, but have seen its benefits on some aero setups.

Lighting, coco, smart pots and the right amt of water and nutes as needed.

I should have my screens setup soon, need to get in there and pin some of them branches to the screens, getting out of control.

Got up this AM bright eyed and bushy tailed, ready to go.
Pulled the plants out of the tent bound and tuck them to the screens and am ready to start setting up my drip system. Maybe two are so more hand waterings.

Just put the ladies on the screens. I am running two 315's, one vert and one horizontal st present. They are not tall enough for both to be set vertical, so I have the lower one vert and the upper light horiz. Running the one vertical without the second light is a problem because to keep the lamp just above the tops of the plants creates that dead zone of light at the tip of the lamp. So the lower parts of the plants were out of the direct light. Will be going both vertical within a week or so.
This is the light setup.

Group shot.

She is only 20" but she loves being bound to the screen. :)

As with last grow we are not removing the fans yet, tucking them behind the screens.

Ladies bound to the screens and ready to rock.

These are indica dom so I am not expecting a lot of lateral growth but hope to get at least a 150 to 200% stretch. Am around 20 plus inches not. Got around two plus weeks of veg left.

Hooked up the irrigation this morning, no leaks,

Unlike last grow we did not try to reduce the pressure, instead we put two of the label sticks to block the stream from just blasting out of the pot. Looking for a better solution to this, some way to better distribute the solution more evenly around the pot. If y'all have any ideas please share them? That's a 1/4 inch feed line to a tee, 5 pots, each line puts out 3.25 cups. I will be doing finer adjustment as we get into the grow (see final photo for view of the 1/4" ball valve on each feed line for fine adjustment). I also added a 2" layer of clay pellets to the surface of the coco along with the plastic stick the CP's that I hope will help distribute the liquid around some and hold the coco in place on the surface of the pots. Am hope adding the clay pellets is not a mistake. Have begun what will become a bi weekly SM90 treatment as a fungal gnat preventive, hard lesson learned a few grows back.
While out of the tent the branches were readjust, bound back to the screen and received some LST. In this pic I am hold the front two or three branches down so you can see the interior and how I bind them.
20171106_100532.jpg
I leave the three branches on the front of the plant, one runs up the center of the mainstem to provide bud sites up the middle, the other two get Super Cropped inward to fill in the lower part of canopy.

Back in the tent and about to turn on the lower lamp.

The are gaining in height very slowly, they are so Indica dom I am unsure how much more height I will get out of them before I go into stretch. I have still done only very minor defo, mainly fan and a few branches growing on the back sides of the plants. Mainly still tucking the fan behind the screen. Have about 17 days before I want to initiate stretch. Can go longer or shorter as the plant dictates.

Thanks P 420, I was so used to the last grow and the rapid growth I got out of the sativa dom plants that these Indica dom plant seem to be growing at a snail's pace.
I tried the Black Holes dripper, did not like it, could not control the amt of each dripper. It was probably due to my pumps pressure. I looked for a 1/4" soaker hose couldn't find much, and I really want to be able to fill the coco to saturation as fast as possible to pull O2 into the root zone.
So yesterday I build this, three point emitter ring. Will see how it go's, wanted to do a four point emitter but not enough pressure. Hope this works well, if not back to the drawing board! bongsmilie

Ring installed, but not leveled yet.
20171108_140142 (2).jpg

Yey, it works well! Will see how it does when the coco is more dry and how quickly the saturates and begins runoff.

G/F says they look sexy, gotta love that woman!
20171108_140844 (2).jpg

I have still not gotten any response to the layer of clay pellets over the coco and if it will cause issues. Was hoping that someone had tried it and would chime in. Guess if it's a problem I will find out the hard way.
Only issue to date was my fault, since I am doing this while on my Cannabis Oil protocol I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer, if you get my drift. I made a batch of solution and did not check the pH, used it for a couple of waterings so got a bit of lock out, but caught it quick enough that the plants are back on track now.
Other than that I am very pleased to be growing again, it is amazing how calming this hobby is for me and I have definitely lowered my stress level. As a matter of fact I have been able to eliminate one of my heart meds, which is a combination of lower stress and the protocol.

Peace out,
GR

Should work fine if anything the hygroton will enhance the DO in the waterfall effect and reduce evaporation. Nice ring dripper.. your using the canna line as i recall?

Thanks Pin, yes I noticed the waterfall effect first off, cool looking. I believe that drip ring will be fine and thanks for the comp on the ring.
That was my thought also on the evap, and I noticed that I got a few more hrs before they required solution.
I am headed out of town for the weekend, set up my irrg. system and all is working well. I had planned on watering once every day but last night getting ready for the trip I gave them one minute, no runoff, and they felt fairly heavy wet. This morning they are lite, so I am going to give them three times a day one minute each, no runoff, will do a hand watering when I get back to insure my runoff. 24 hrs with the upper light and 18/6 with the lower.
