work awesome. hold more water and air than any other medium.
you will get a bit of dust after each rinse. on the bag, there are directions on how to prepare before use.
pretty easy to rinse off old roots and re-use as well. i let mine dry in the sun for a day or so and the old roots come right off in water.

Easier to clean than hydroton? Because I still get some roots even after I let sit in bleach and rinse

I've read some people say it raises pH. Any issues?

no. they are inert. won't affect pH at all.
i do hempy buckets so the more air/water ability is what sold me on them.
i think if you are just using in netpots, they won't be much different than hydroton
