I live in northern California and know a few people who grow w/several scripts in one guys backyard. Do you need some kind of caretaker type permit to do something like that? Any info will be appreciated

Ask the people you know who are doing it. Have you applied for a script yourself? Im sure your state's legislative office has the correct information you need.
