Growing Stress Seeds

Hey there guys! I'm new to this forum but I've been checking on some other people's work and it made an interest in my mind to try growing some MJ myself. However, I'm low on cash lately and the economy is really dull at the moment.

Currently my babies are holding off okay with two standard CFLs and I made a grow box out of my drawer haha. Kinda cool and ghetto but hey I'm just experimenting with what I got. Improvising as I go. I do need some help. My plants haven't been so strong lately. I'd like to hear advice, tips, whatever you think may help me out to reach full adulthood for my babies and hopefully turn out to be females as well.

I'm also planning on getting some fox farm ocean forest soil from the nursery near me but I'd like to know if anyone knows a certain pricing on it in the SoCal LA area.

I'm also using ice cream buckets that I had left over. I thought it would be really useful one day so I used it to plant my babies in them. Tell me if it's better for me to grow them separately or in a larger bucket like a 5 gallon. Thanks! Will update this thread constantly.

P.S. - I'm growing 5 of them. They smell really lemony and herbal. Might be a sativa? I really don't know. My friend who sold me the bag of stress said it was AZ Kush. I've checked online but not much detailed information about it.

August 28th was when they sprouted from the ground. The soil I'm using is from a backyard soil that other plants are also growing off from. I know it's whack. I'll be changing it soon hopefully. I've been having lights on for 18 hours daily since then. I have a 11x11" house fan running 24/7 as well. Give me some advice or let me know what I'm doing wrong. I'm a beginner so please be well aware of them before insulting or flaming me.. Thanks (:

Looks good! But your gonna want to transplant those into separate pots soon because once they get bigger they will fight for nutrients. And with that many plants you may need to buy some more cfl's! It's possible to flower with cfl's but they produce leafy buds that aren't very dense. There are some great threads with cfl grows tho, so go check em out!

P.S. If you have a magnifying glass, stick in front of your camera lense when you take close-ups and they will be much clearer!!!

Oh wow. Thanks for the magnifying glass advice. I really didn't think of that. I think two of them aren't growing as strong as the other three that are. Should I have them in beer cups until they grow out their first set of leaves? The other three seems like it'll be needing their own soon like you said. I'm going to have to save up some cash and buy fox farm ocean forest.

Should I also make some plans to buy bulbs as well? I'm hoping my babies could flower with Metal Halides since HPS is too expensive for me at the moment.

How many of these bulbs should I purchase? http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc...splay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053

I'm not sure if the other two are growing so well as the three that I have. This is just an experimental grow so that I'd know what I can do when I decide to grow with more money to spend.

Your gonna have to buy a ballast and reflector if you want to run one of those! Which is gonna run up into a couple hundred dollars. Your best bet is to get a 150w hps sun system which is about the cheapest I can find when it comes to hid lamps and its $71.95 plus shipping. Which would be great for flowering, but if your only going to be able to spend that amount of money you'd only be able to get a few cfl's.

Plastic cups work perfectly until theyre big enough to transplant.

Two of my MJ plants died. I think it didn't get enough nutes that's probably why. But I still have the other three doing great right now. I might be able to get some soil tomorrow. Will transplanting two of them to individual 5 quarts ice cream buckets work? Cause I have them all in one bucket right now. I think my next idea is to get the splitters so I can hook up like four more CFLs. I'm gonna just experiment with this grow. I'm planning to grow MJ plants for many years from now so this is like practice since I'm a starter.

Hey diet103, I've got caught up with my plants lately but no so much. A friend of mine had half a bag of earthgro steer manure blend and I decided to use it since I had nothing else. Do you think it's bad because my plants seem like they're gonna die. I'm not sure if they're suppose to be like this but some parts of the leaves (not so much but you can see it) are crusty and one of them (my youngest one) has leaves that aren't holding up too well anymore. Do you think it's possible to still save them because I'm actually kinda scared I've fucked myself over. If I did let me know asap!

How are they lookin now?? I Don't know about the manure mix, it might have been a little too much for the little guys. If you can, get some good fresh nute-less soil to transplant into and they should be fine. I hope they make it!

I think they're dying.. No growth in height whatsoever. The leaves are getting yellow. Maybe it's because of the manure mix. I think I fucked up pretty bad. I'm planning to just give up and try again next year. I'll most likely be planning ahead until the next time. This sucks! I guess this is my trial and error. Thanks for the help diet! I'll be sure to ask you for help if I don't give up on them. Most likely I will because I lack the support for them and I don't have any money to spend on my babies at the moment.
