Growing outdoors in ground with light would be better

Well during the summer, its more of a test to know how the root systems works compared to potted....
my experiment
two pots
cannabis soil seedling mix
sunflowers
they died because of no water after around 5 days.
the ones planted in 2 areas in the garden did not die.
now this could be by chance as some of them died instantly when I planted them

too many other factors not being considered here. just remember the light, the soil, the nutrients, the light cycle, the strain, and all the other environmental conditions. The short answer is 'no' this wouldn't be better, and 'yes' allows the roots to grow into a larger area but that honestly doesn't matter if none of the other factors are being considered.
