Growing medium?

Can you use hydroton as a growing medium purely by itself? If so do you need special nutrients for this? Any help or tips would be great
 
Ok so I looked it up a little bit but I don't unite understand, what type of nutes do you put in the bottom? Veg or bloom or some of both? Do you have to keep adding nutes? And does the perlite vermiculite mix go in with the nutrients?
 
Well I figure I have lots of time to find a method I like and stick with it being as I'm only 18, but for now I would like to try a bunch of different ways so that way I can really find the one I like the best. I was planning on doing DWC but it seemed like the res changes would get to be a hassle
 
if you want to go DWC you need to read Roseman

Follow that step be step and you will have much higher sucess rate.
I followed all except I am running LED

The res change gets to be just something you do once a week (check PH every day)
There is some work but a hobbie that you need to do nothing is not much of a hobbie.

The one thing that you can not grow without is knowlege..... and a good PH pen
