growing males with females

If I wanted to grow seeds at some point, and I might, is getting the female plant polinated as simple as letting it grow with a male? Are there any special precautions that should be taken?

Also, how badly does it impact the yield of female plants, If I had a male and female (same strain) growing together would the female plant's bud yields go down 100%? or would it only be a partial loss, like 50%?

Yes, just allowing them to grow side by side will work. The yield will suffer a bit but it all depends on the strain. The weed will be really crap, not necessarily the potency or taste, but they will be filled with seeds. Lots and lots of seeds.
I prefer to fertilize by keeping them apart and then just taking small amounts of pollen from the male and sprinkling little bits on the female, leaving you with enough seeds, not tons; just enough, and while still having some pretty good bud.
