Growing in unheated garage

So my tent is in an unheated garage with a concrete floor. It's getting below freezing outside at night and really cold in the garage. Setting the plants on the bottom of the tent isn't good because they are basically sitting on cold concrete.

I put a floor on the bottom of my tent to keep the plants off of the cold concrete.
I didn't have any insulating material when I did this but I'm going to get some and use it as well. But for now it's better than the way it was.

Just a couple 8' 1" x 2" cut in half.



Two pieces of plywood 2' x 4' with the corners cut out so they fit. Insulating material should go in before these.




I covered it with another layer of plastic just because.




And threw the liner that came with the tent in.




Gotta have a heater. I said it was cold.





I'm still going to put some insulation down under the plywood and then probably a piece of that 1" 4' x 8' styrofoam sheeting or whatever it's called. I'm keeping the tent above 65 F but growing in fabric pots sitting on really cold ground is not good. This should solve that problem.

I was going to put in a heated floor this year but never got around to it. That's something I might do after Thanksgiving.

I think you’ll be fine man. I saw on a thread recently a guy was using an electric blanket under a drop cloth on his floor to raise temp.

Lowe's had 2×2' styrofoam squares, they are pretty thick, I don't remember exactly how thick cuz I didn't buy them, I had some already, but I think maybe 2". They were about five bucks each

I was wanting to setup my grow in my garage as well but I went for a closet instead because of the cold also.

I have my 5x5 tent on an elevated 5'6"x5'6" platform that I built and it stands 12" off the garage concrete floor. I pull my passive air from under it and when the lights are off and it gets to cold, I put a little space heater right next to the duct and it works perfectly. Keeps my tent 65° to 70° when the lights are off

I use the floating floor matting and then some ply wood on the concrete floor. HID lighting helps as well.
I try not to use a heater but do have the extracted air going back into the space rather than out a window.

Heater in the tent means its wasted if you are extracting air- heat rises and just gets sucked right out.

It work's just fine. I did it last winter and pulled a nice crop.

It's just a thin foil laying at the bottom of a tent. You can buy it off amazon at different power ratings. This one is 150W/m2 hooked to a thermostat

It's stupid simple and it's enough to keep those girls feet warm at night. Look up calorique on amazon.

That's why I put heat source on the botom of the tent ;)

Standard pallet would give you what you need to.

Everything has gotten so much better for me getting out of the tent, and into this bare closet. You seem pretty into your ‘hobby’, why not build yourself something in the garage to grow? The height limitation of the tent is a fucking killer.
