Growing in soil indoors

i am trying to grow my plants indoors with soil. i do not want to do hydro...to me it seems complicated. I have a HPS and MH light ficture for growing and flowering but i am not sure what soil i should use to grow them. My questions...
1. What soil do i need?
2. What ph ballance if any should i keep the soil at? And how do i check that?
3. What nuts should i use in the soil for each phase of life? (any specific brand?)

thanks:shock:

Go to the hydro store and they will set ya up.

1. fox farm soil. (the shit is made to grow pot in)
2. 6.5 With foxfarm soil ya dnont have to worry about it.
3. There is a shit load of types and brands. Use the fox farm scedule.

a soil with no nutes less risk of nute burn. ph after mixing up nutes at 6.0 to 6.5 and soil ph should be the same. also you can get 18-18-24 and 10-10-10
for flower nutes you want less nitregon and more pk. good luck

if use soil with no nutes in the begining, then am i starving the young plant?
from what i understand, if i do not give the plant any nutes for the first four weeks and wait to see yellowing of the leaves that means she is not getting the nutes she needs.

Try and find ProMix from a local greenhouse if you don't have a hydro store nearby. FoxFarms is $28.99 a bag where I'm at compared to $8 for Promix organic or $6 for Promix regular and give me plenty good results. If you must by soil from the local superstore make sure it says safe for seedlings and you should be allright. No you won't be starving the plant if you don't add nutes right away, it has enough food stored from the seed stage to give it a head start in life so you don't have to worry about nutes till around a month later. Although I've never tried I bet you could do a whole grow without adding nutes at all. All you are doing is trying to add optimal conditions by adding them. I try to explain to people like this, just think what you do to normal houseplants. I know everyone probably has a philodendron that has been in the same soil for 3 years and never had any nutes added and it's still growing fine. Like someone mentioned on another thread, "it's a weed and will grow about anywhere, most problems stem from overcare." That's a darn nice quote.
