Grow Tent Size Issues

So, my current grow tent takes up a corner in my bedroom. It is 35"x20" and 62" tall. (I'm limited to those dimensions as a MAX size foot print. I can go taller in height if I could find a tent that is taller). I only want to grow one plant at a time. After putting in the lights and fans, and taking into account the height of the pot the plant is in, I'm left with VERY little room for height. My last grow I had to switch it over early because it was already getting burned by the lights.

I'm torn between scouring the internet for a 24x24 tent that is taller than 62" or trying to figure out how to grow a plant in such a short environment.

Do you guys know of a single plant tent that is a LOT taller than that? Or, should I keep my existing tent and, if so, is there a way to get the same harvest but keep the plant shorter? The main issue I could see with keeping it short is the lack of depth of the tent (it is only 20" deep).

I suggest a SCROG grow. Keeps the plants shorter and lets you maximize your square footage.

I grow in a 5' tall tent with three circulations fans, one extraction fan, one carbon filter and two (2) 210 watt lights. With the SCROG style grows I never have to worry about the lights being too close to the canopy.

Will I have issues with the 20" depth, doing a Scrog grow?

cut floor of tent out but leave about 2 inches around whole perimeter then use bricks or something to put under each corner of the tent

you then set plants back inside wallah u have adjustable height tent panda plastic perimeter u have no leaks

No ... you can design a net that fits your space - something like a 30" x 20" net with a rigid frame. Then you can weave the plants through the mesh in VEG to spread the plants laterally and fill that space with potential bud sites. When the net is full you flip and enjoy the show

Always makes me nervous, but I'd be willing to try it. How do I keep the branches from breaking?

Interesting! I hadn't thought of that. Only issue I can see is the light levels. I would need to come up with a way of blocking the light from getting up, under, and into, the tent.

That's why I recommend to weave them when still in VEG because the ends of the branches are still pretty pliable and can be woven easier. I find that as they finish up their stretch, they get much stiffer - and they get packed with burgeoning bud - which makes them a little more difficult to weave.

Any advice on what to use for a screen? I was looking at a Viviosun trellis but it's just made of stretchy string. Is that okay, or do I need something sturdier?

A scrog is a good idea. However, if you don't want to bother with that, then you can always do some super cropping and just bend and tie down the branches to your will.

What kind of light are you using?

I'm using an LED light. A fairly good one that was recommended by you guys, on this forum.
So, basically the same as Scrog but I'd just weave the single plant through the loops as it grows?
Sorry if that's a dumb question, I've only ever grown a plant straight up so this would be my first venture into anything else....

Not exactly sure what you mean by the loops...but there are a few methods that you can use to super crop. In addition to bending/breaking branches, you can also bend the branches more gently by simply tying one end of a string to a stem and then pulling it down and fastening the other end of the string to the container or to a weight that will keep the branch from returning to an upright position. Eventually, the bent branches start to grow up, again....and you just repeat the process as needed. You can keep a plant short this way without having to commit to it being tied in a scrog. The drawback of this technique is that the plant has to recover each time you make a bend/break and that adds to the overall grow time.

I think I'm way too chicken to break branches though....

It doesn't hurt them, they develop a strong knuckle usually. This is a run of Bodhi Space Monkey. You can see the two bends where I super cropped her, the knuckles are robust. Hth, get brave and break a stem.

I made my own screens using 1 x 1 wood trim and wood screws every 2.5 inches:




I just cut the string when harvesting the plants .......... then re-string them with parcel twine for the next grow.

That stretchy nylon stuff you can use about a foot above the rigid frames to support the bud over the final few weeks.



As the bud bulks up and puts on weight the nylon string keeps the branches from flopping over.

Scrog it out. Fill the training net then flip. If you have good air circulation they will definitely hold up buds. But.... if you fill the net then, let the the nodes turn up and grow you'll still be fine.

You could just take some clones and flower out smaller clones too.

I've done SOG

I have even married SOG with Scrog

Holy crap. You guys are light years ahead of me! lol. I grew a single plant on my last attempt. This seems crazy and scary! I can see how it solves my problem, but...scared as crap to start pinching the tops off and cutting things! lol.
