Grow tent help

Quick question I was planning on making a dodgy grow tent on the cheap and putting it in a fairly large storeroom where I’m living and was wondering if I just built a wooden frame and covered it in a reflective materiel of choice can I leave the roof off and not need to put in an exhaust fan and instead just hang a oscillating fan from the roof and one on the ground , the temps in the room are normally pretty good and I have a 600watt LED which barely creates any heat, I was planning on making the tent 200cm high by 90cm wide and 90cm long.

I don’t think there will need to be a need for the exhaust fan if there’s no roof on the tent because a lot of fresh air will be getting pushed in and around by the fan at the top and bottom , or do I need to have a roof on the grow tent to keep all the light in or doesn’t that change anything, I really have no idea and was hopeing on some guidance.

Sorry I know it’s going to be far from optimal I just want to know if it will still work decent enough. I’ve only ever grown once outdoors and thought I’d try a indoor grow this time but do it on the cheap but if you believe it’s not worth doing it that way then I’m all open for suggestions how I can do it without breaking the bank too much. Thanks

Ok so technically you could leave off the roof and have a fan pointing up and over the wall as the heat will rise, its going to depend greatly on how much heat is created and how big the room the roofless tent is in. If its only slightly bigger then its going to war up pretty fast.

The other reason why air exchange is important is to replenish co2, so theres that. But if its a small grow you may get away with it.
I once saw a guy on here proving that the co2 levels didn't diminish in a similar situation.

Then there is the Humidity issue. You might well need a dehumidifier. Or risk losing your crop to mould.

You want to check the true wattage of your light, it could be as little as 130w as some of them "600w LEDs" are. If its only 130w or something then you will find it isn't big enough to flower in a 90cmx90cm space, but that doesn't mean you cant use it and just fill a much smaller area with plants/plant.

Obviously when in flower its vital that the space is totally dark for 12 hours, so if there are windows or other light leaks then you need to make sure its not getting into your roofless tent.

Personally I believe in doing things properly, venting the hot air out and exchanging the air to replenish co2 by way of a proper extractor fan and pumping it all out of the house. But I also understand that not everyone can do that in their living situation.

There are probably other issues which haven't sprung into my baked mind, but I guess your just going to have to try it and see.

Good luck! :bigjoint:

Thanks for your reply mate you’ve made up my mind and I bought a couple extractors and am going to put a top on the tent . As for heat the led barely creates any. I got a cheapy that seems like it will be effective enough. It’s the new phlizon 600 watt led , I think it’s true watt is 190 and I’m going to take into account what you said and follow the manufacturers guide to coverage and build the tent 60cm by 60cm. Would this be ok to put 4 plants in , I plan on lst and scrogging and maybe trying to super crop, it’s a mostly sativa dominant hybrid strain and my outdoor plant (same strain) grew 1.3 meters in a 7 gallon pot this year with a 10/11 week flower. Also being my first indoor grow how long should I veg for and how tall should my plants be before I flip them to flower? Thanks for your help bro

Sorry for the late reply. I grow one plant per 2x2 feet which is roughly 60cm x 60cm but yeah you can grow one per square foot.
Im not sure Scrog would be the best method with plants so tight, maybe try just topping so you have 4 mains and super cropping each main to shape and fill your space.
As for how long you veg for, different for each set up, dependant on strength of veg lighting ect. A month from seed I would imagine would fill a square foot but you will have to go trial by fire and learn as you grow. :fire:
