Hey,

i have a one bedroom apartment with one window only in the living room.
There are running AC in both rooms living room and my bedroom at 76f 24/7. I will have the tent in my windowless bedroom, I can’t have it in the living room by the window to have my end of tent duct end there for privacy reasons. In terms of air circulation as i said both AC in both rooms running 24hrs/7. Only a door between the two spaces.

my questions:

- how bad is the odor for of the cannabis tent?if i have a carbon filter. first tent, my first cannabis plant!.

- are scented humidifiers enough and scented candles to cover smell?

- how bad is the tent noise?

- is having a humidifier in the room really important?

-what is the so called inline fan connected to the carbon filter through duct i see? I’m planning on regular 10$ fans are they the same as for circulation.

- what is the difference between regular dwc pots with soil and hydroponics systems besides checking pH?

-How many pots if hydroponics by gallon. Or regular pots, and how many seeds for a regular pot? How many seeds for 6gl hydroponics system?

- do you suggest I grow 1 seed at a time as a first timer?

- LED VS FLUORESCENT I’m refusing led Because I prefer fluorescent. How can i hang none t5 bulbs in the tent?

is my list of requirements enough for my tent good:

Tent
Grow lights
Hangers
Timers
Nutrition
Hydroponics system
Carbon filter
Fan

Cheers!

You need to make sure the fan is made to pull through a filter.

It can be very loud, typical volume for an extractor is 50db but you can get some that run at 25db and you can make them quieter by using a variable transformer to lower the speed.

If run correctly a filter will take care of the smell.
If your pumping the air into the room sometimes it can be smelly.

If you pump air into the same closet your growing in then its likely to warm up and continue to get warmer as you would be recycling the air over and over which will also lead to high humidity and low co2.

Since its a small grow, one plant, you may be able to get away with that by opening the closet a few times a day so the old air comes out.

A hydroponic system will typically make noise too, air pumps can be loud, pumps can be loud, depends on the system you use and if it needs pumps on 24/7.

For air circulation you can use a few PC fans connected to a power supply , that will be about as quiet as you can be.

Still there will be some noise, it might be worth putting a small beer fridge next to the closet which will hum slightly and mask the noise.

If you go with fluorescent then you may be able to grow a few really short plants.
Cant help with the hanging.

A single 5gal pot can easy fill 2x2 with one plant. ou will need to train your plant to keep it low if you only have 4ft height.

thanks dear.
- is it a must to connect inline fan into carbon filter?
- when you say one plant in 5g system. How many seeds would you mind?

cheers!

Besides the extra noise, a hydro setup is also a lot less forgiving than soil, and requires daily (sometimes more than once) dialing in of ph and nutrient solution. I'd suggest soil for a first grow but im sure someone on here can help you either way.

I would not use Flourescent in that space. Not sure if you have enough height to make it work. Maybe for veg but not flower. LED is a lot more efficient than flourescent, meaning more light gets to the plants using same electricity. You also dont need to replace bulbs so long term cost is actually cheaper. I would recommend an HLG 135W v1 DIY kit. You would probably need to remote mount the driver to keep your temps in control since your height is limited.

If noise is a concern w fans, i recommend spending a bit more to get an AC Infinity Cloudline T4 fan. They run close to silent on lower settings. They also make a carbon filter to go with it, but you can use pretty much any 4" carbon filter and save a few $. Mount these outside your tent too to save the space.

Okay guys it seems like after talking with someone having in the living room with curtains can’t be passed by any lie, and having it in my room seems tough ta manage thus I will upgrade to 2 bedroom apartment as i see it currently. I actually haven’t moved I’m moving into a new city this week.

Very interesting I thought a system setup is the easy way to go. Than what’s your recommendation if you don’t mind on number of pots in my small 2x2x4? How big should each pot be? If i plant one plant, that means how big will the pot be?

cheers

From my experience, yes soil is much easier for beginners. I tried it when I first started, but personally never had a successful hydro run, it was always too complicated to keep happy (this was > 15 yrs ago), and I stuck with soil ever since. If you haven't yet, check out the https://growweedeasy.com site which will break all of your options down in more detail. Don't take this as fact though, other people do better with hydro. The only thing I am not sure of, hydro systems also take up some of your vertical height, whereas with soil the plants can sit at ground level. You are going to need every inch you can in a tent that short.

If you go with soil that you supplement with some compost or other fertilizer, the general rule of thumb is 1 gallon of soil per month of growth.

So I would recommend vegging in a 1/2 - 1 gal pot. The difference in veg pot size would be determined by how long you plan to veg for. For 2 weeks a 1/2 gal should be fine, or if a month then go for a 1 gallon. I would personally just do a 2 week veg and not worry about training or anything yet. First just learn how the plant grows and get yourself disciplined to feed / daily care for it. Once you get a few grows under your belt you could veg longer and top, or LST to fill out the tent canopy and maximize your yield.

Then transplant before flower into a 3 gallon pot. (giving you @ 2 gals of fresh soil for the 8ish weeks of flower).

That should give you enough to fill your tent but not have things get out of hand. Other people might have other suggestions, I think that is a safe bet for your first grow.

Also, if you can afford to upgrade the tent, getting a 2x2x5.5 or 2x2x6 is going to make things a lot easier and not limit you by height as much.

This is very useful I will follow your advice I’m sure. Plus I’m thinking about a bigger tent already!. Thanks.

One other thing I forgot earlier. Since you will be growing from seed, you will probably want to give at least 4 weeks veg to allow the plant to mature enough before you flower it. This means you will probably need to do some lst at least to control the plant height otherwise it might be too big for flower.

If you make or acquire clones instead, then you could do a shorter 2 week veg since the clones are already mature if that makes sense.
