Hi everyone, very happy to join.
Complete newbie doing lots of research.
I want a very simple system with no moving parts so trying to decide between 5 gallon bucket with perlite on bottom to form reservoir and connect to second bucket as tank. In other words passive dwc, water wicks up, refill reservoir.
Or, hempy bucket.
As I'm understanding it hempy bucket same as dwc mentioned above. Perlite in bottom, wicks water up. Only difference is that dwc has net pot and no media and hempy has media, in my case I want to use 50/50 coco/perlite.
Both will be indoor grow with proper lights and AN nutes, probably 100% org. like Iguana J.
So which one is better? Please respond with person experience from both systems.
Also couldn't a 5 gal. grow bag with same mix and perlite on bottom for reservoir sitting in a sauce or tray to help form reservoir act like a hempy with added benefit of air prunning? Yes I know grow bag will dry out quicker needing extra reservoir refills. BTW hempy or bag will h as ve built in wicking ropes to get young plants started before they can reach reservoir, a common complaint with wicking systems. Thanks.
