grow safely

Do you ever worry if your fan kicked on when your lights did, or did your fan timer not work today and your house is on fire and your dogs are now dead. I think this site has a lot of new growers and it would be great if the old timers could share some safety tips. Maybe this could be a sticky to show all newbees.

So for my first question is what would be a safe way to wire up your set up so that your fan does come on when your lights do. I saw cap makes a thermometer that turns the lights off if your temps are too high. You can turn a nob to adjust the settings. Id just like to know from you guys personal experiences.

I'm building up my first setup and I'm stressing about safety issues as well. I just read a post from today about a ballast catching fire. I'm trying to go with good brands to reduce this risk, but when one is dealing with so much electricity draw and heat, being careful is vital.

So, I'm wondering how much risk there is in a fire happening?

theres not to high of risk of fire as long as you wire everything correctly, also most people use pc fans and with those theres usually more then one so if one blows you still have more going. and if your using alot of electricity you can use two or three outlets to spread out the electricity use for one outlet.

I agree with most of that, but using didfferent outlets in the same room doesn't spread out the electricity, one is wired to carry potential to the next and so one to the breaker/fuse if your in really old house. Standard cicuits should beaccording to NEC(national electric code) rated for either 15 or 20 A which is more than enough for any personal grower(1k or less).
