Grow Cab Humidity Problems

Hello everyone, Newbie here! Just had a quick question about my humidity in my Cabinet. I cant seem to get it to go above 20%. I put cups of water in there hoping the light would evaporate it but it still stayed at 20%. This is my third grow but my first indoors. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Best thing you can do is step up the watts as the plants grow bigger. Big plants transpire lots of water so it won't be as much of a problem later on. Get you some small floros or a humidity dome.

Thanks muffy, i planned on getting some 65w cfls but wasn't sure if that would be overkill. I have a 150w cfl (300w equivilent) in there right now!

Thanks for the input guys, i think im going to upgrade the light i have in there to a 150w HPS. I dont like the growth speed with the 150w CFL. I'm at about 2 1/2 - 3 weeks from sprout and there only about 2 inches tall on and their 3rd set of leaves. I looked at your grow (sicksadlittleworld) and was very impressed. Your plants have way more foliage on them at 26 days then mine at about 20 days. Ill post pics! What could I be doing wrong???

Thanks. You really are better off with a bunch of smaller CFL's spread all over the plants instead of one big one. You need to get the bulbs within inches of the plants in order for them to put out enough light to be effective.

It also looks like it is a 2700K bulb which is better for flowering. You will probably get faster growth with 6500k daylight bulbs instead. Alternatively, the 150w HPS you are thinking about would go great in that cabinet. It looks to be the perfect size for a low wattage light and you'll get much better coverage/penetration than what you get with the CFL now.

Your plants don't look unhealthy or stretchy, so get some more light closer and I think you will see them take off. What kind of soil are you using?

Im using 75% miracle grow potting soil and 25% miracle grow perlite! I just ordered a sun systems 150w hps off of ebay for $85 shipped. I hope it works out. Lol. Now am i going to have to use a different light for flowering or can i use the hps straight through? Also how hot does that light get? I have two comp. fans for ventilation, the top one is exhaust and the bottom being the intake. My cab is only 21" wide by 14 1/2" deep and 2'2" tall. The bottom is the same just 4" taller. I plan to veg up top until the plants are about 8 to 10 inches tall and go into flowering on the bottom and keep the cycle going!

I don't have experience with MG stuff but it doesn't seem to be an ideal soil for cannabis. I'm sure a transplant into some Fox Farm Ocean Forest or other higher quality soil will help with growth and prevent overnute problems later on.

Good choice on the light. You are working with about the same cubic footage I am, so the light should work well in that space. Just make sure you have adequate ventilation. HPS is ideal for flowering but it can be used for vegging. My plants were all vegged with the HPS.

I had two other grows with mg, they were lemon skunks, outside. They both turned out pretty good:eyesmoke:, but I'm still going to take a ride to the hydro shop and get some soil and nutes. It cant hurt to try. I want max production!!!!

I was looking for a little one on ebay, i will find one in the next few days...Mine is at 20% and doesn't move..

I bet you any amout of money that you have a SPRINGFIELD Precise temp thermometer. lol i had one on my first grow dude its the thermometer it seems to act up i put bowls, containers and anything you could imagine full of water but it never budged so I got get a new one at walmart trust me youll thank me in the long run for not buying a humidifier. I use the Springfield just for my room temp (ambient room temp) not the actual grow room and the only time i actually saw when the humidity rose is when i left it outside and it began to rain. But when i placed it anwhere it always said 20%. I even posted a pic of my old one and new one.

And also I put my other 150w cfl in the cab and hung both of them closer to the tops of the plants and already a difference, after a day. I cant wait to get that hps. Its on its way..the pic with the two lights is the newest! Nice call with putting more lights and lower, -Sicksadlittleworld-.
