Grow box

Ok, I've had a bookshelf in my closest for some time now, and decided to turn it into a grow box. I gave it about 10 coats of white paint to reflect light (Now my room smells like paint hardcore, I keep sneezing). I'm going over different CFL setups, not really sure what to go with. I plan on updating this when ever I add to it.

The shelf is 25" wide x 29 1/2" tall and 11 1/2'' deep on the outside and 23'' x 25'' x 11 1/2'' on the inside. Just big enough to fit in my closet sideways.

This is what I have so far.

let me know how the flat or semi-gloss white paint works. ive heard conflicting reports of it being superior to reflective material (mylar, foil, etc) Im stuck in the middle

I used "Behr Premium Plus" the color is called "Ultra Pure White" Its latex based. (I figured I'd go as white as possible lol)
I'm not really sure if its better than mylar or not, but it's definitely better than nothing. It seems like it's reflecting a lot of light, I have a lamp sitting next to it, and it looks like it's glowing or something, I tried to take the pictures with the flash on, and you couldn't even make out what your seeing.

Well, it's been proven time and time again that foil is the worst reflective material! Then comes flat white, then comes mylar...

Took a few more pictures after I added a couple more coats of paint. I got that piece of wood out of the box.

I'm going to make the backside of it light tight tomorrow, and start working on something to close the front off, Any suggestions as to what to use for a door?

How about some dry wall??? Maybe even panda film and some velcro?

your box is pretty legit except the fact that it smells like hardcore paint. you shouldn't have gave it too many coats, the odor of the paint can mess with the plants breathing. but in all its decent. check my grow setup!

I didn't think about that, it doesn't smell anywhere near as strong as it did last night though.

Found something cool at Walmart today. I was worried it wouldn't fit, but it does. I'm working on a co2 system for the box, I bought yeast too. I had an idea to use a plastic bottle, cut a hole in the lid and run plastic tubing through it, What do you think?

Also, any one had any experience with the Jiffy thing?

I just installed my DIY co2 8 days ago and my plants have gone crazy over the last week i love it and you can really tell the difference in growth not just height but leaf size width etc..check out my grow in my sig..as for your set up the one guy is right about the strong paint smell but other then that ive heard good things about the white paint it trully brightens the room up like flood lights.. as for the cfl's i'd go with strictly 42 watts about 8 to 10 of them and you'll do just fine dont forget to mix your cfl spectrum 2700k and 5500k when flowering...peace

I'm going to throw a couple pics of my cabinet up here, see if it gives you any ideas. Its made out of 3/4 melamine. You can measure what you need for your door, and tell them at home depot to cut it for you they only charge you like $1 for the cuts. then buy some hinges and mount that thing on your door. Mine has weather striping around the door to stop light leaks.

With my co2 system, should I just wait until I start growing and run the tube around the plant? or do my other idea idea, which is run the tubing around the top of the box?

i only have one tube that drops right over the plants about 5" above in the middle i need to make some type of splitter to run to each plant..then go up to maybe a gallon jug..
