GroClone and mushyness

I have a diy groclone and the ends that are in the water look like the outer layers of the stem have dissolved away and are lingering on the stem to form a fuzz approx 1/16" all the way around not letting the oxygen to the stem.
If anyone has any advice it will be much appreciated. ph is 5.9 in de-chlorinated water

Ok. Uh.. The J to the C, is that some sort of slang i am not aware of?

Either way there are 2 issues with your clones.

#1 your water is way too acidic. You want 6.2 at the LOWEST.
#2 you dont want your stems to sit in water. You want them to be surrounded by moisture, but not sumberged. You are experiencing rot. As soon as you can, get the clones out of the water, wipe off the scum from around the stem. If there is any browing, graying, or fraying, remove the affected portion.

When i clone, i fill a peat pot with seedling starter mix or something that is very loose and wont compact. I then get it really with water that has a trace of hydrogen peroxide in it. That helps kill germs and as it breaks down, it releases oxygen into the growing medium which the roots appreciate. I then scrap the sides of the stem and split the bottom. I dip this in rooting powder (more is not better), poke a hole in the growing medium, and put that in the peat pot.

Ill then put that in a small planter and cover it with a baggie and put that in a warm place with soft light for 2 weeks.

That should solve your problem.

J to the c is a pseudo rapper name I came up with. although I hate rap.

I can successfully clone in peat, and Rockwool, but instead of waiting around for them to clone I built a water cloner modeled after the GroClone. My test run went awesome but now they are suffering I have added Olivias cloning solution at 4oz. per gallon and didn't like the sediment. My test run took 10days off my normal cloning and they are way better when they go into my DWC. I have read that ph is anywhere from 5.2-6.3 in there hydro and aero cloners so I'm stumped but I will try a higher ph and see

I figured it out, it was Brown algae, tore apart the system cleaned with strong bleach and did it up all new. New ph set at 6.2 not 5.8. Read the instructions online, it all makes sense now.
