Green Roots!?!

I just looked at my roots first time in alittle and relised there all green! and my plants are not looking good at all. first thought is to drain the tote and start with fresh water re ph and re put nutes in. What causes green nutes?

roots exposed to light will turn green.

Sounds like algae problem...... Try adding some H202 to the res and make sure no light is shining into it....

could also be algae, but it'd be green slime and gunky.

u got good air stones in the res? u need DO and lots of it.

i have 2 18inch long airstones and 2 6inch disk air stones. along with water pump sending 1/4inch feeder tubes to each net pot. Light could be the issue. there is a very little bit that seeps threw the hydroton rocks very little. how ever the plant have not shown any change besides worse in the last week so im sure there is a problem. i will work on sealing the light up better. any other ideas?

What would cause algy and how can i tell if i got it or not? the inside of the tote doesnt seem to slimy

Alright so..... My Nutes died the water.... Schultz 10-15-10 plant food plus. Maybe i put to much in... maybe it just fucked my water up... ideas? its all i have for nutes atm im empting the tote out now and going to refill what would u guys suggest as a dosage of this crap? for 6 gallons in a 10 gallon tote

Directions on this stuff is.

All indoor plants
Just 7 drops 1/8 teaspoon per quart of water every time u water.
for feeding once or twice a month use 14 drops per quart.

I am unsure how much to put into my water and i am doing it now.... 6 gallons anyone know?

2nd pic is classic over fert problem, u may have had the mix a little to strong, i had a plant that did that 2 weeks ago it only just pulled through. it looked identical to yours. I'd fill the res with Ph'd water and leave it for a day or 2. Empty it then fill again then add 1/4 strength nutes and build it back up slowly. if you have some hydrogen peroxide put some of that in aswell, BUT only very small amounts as its strong. If you dont have any u can get some weaker stuff at the chemist H2O2. Hope this helps

thank you. yeah i just phed there water and put them back in. i guess i will wait on giving them nutes again. thats a good idea i should let all that die drip off the roots

yep h2o2 will kill any bad pathogens/algee and clear up the roots back to white. Rhizotonic made by canna is really really good for repairing roots and can help with clean up aswell. i'd get some if i were u asap!! only about 20 bucks (AUD) for 250ml, may b better priced where u are.
