I have a friend who swears that you can have green lights on anytime you want, even when it lights out dark time. has anyone ever heard this. It would be nice so you could get in any time tocheck things out but F that if it causes HERMS:spew:what do you think

from my limited experience light during dark cycle doesnt cause hermies as much as it reduces overall harvest. green light still puts off some light that is visible to the plant so theoretically it should cause the same kind of damage as other kinds of lite

Its ok. I knew a guy who had like 20 plants in some huge pots and he used green lights during flowering but he told me that they should only be used if you really have to.

disregard the post from joker152 (NO disrespect to joker). this info is incorrect. i posted a thread on this last year and did a bit of research. green light is the only way to view your plants safely during lights out. green is the only light plants do NOT see. search...google...search. blessings.

i was thinking i'd only use it when totally needed maybe once or twice a week for maybe 15 mins. that short amount should effect growth huh?..

Everything i googles on it says that drgreen is right. It seems to be the only light you can use to actually work in your grow area during Dark cycle.

i use it for everything and would be lost without it. it is remarkable at how many times google directs you back to RIU. i keep an extra tab or two open so i can google stuff as i read, here. 1!

You can get colored plastic called "gels" at most music stores now in the DJ party supply section. Gels are used to change the color of lights for stage lighting, get a green one and attach it to a clamp light with duct tape or cut out a small circle of it and use it with your flashlight, like a Mag-light.
