Mycorrhizae need to be in direct contact with the roots to work, so just think, applying directly to the roots during transplant ensures you hit the most root surface area with the myco VS diluting it in water and distributing through the entire media. There is no contest. It might still be beneficial to add some to the media in a liquid solution because there is trichoderma and beneficial bacteria in there too-plus this isn't an either/or scenario, nothing stopping you from applying it both ways. Good luck!
