Responsible for pushing the math in the Quantum field to higher understanding.

Lately he bested Steven Hawking in a bet over the nature of information preservation in Black Hole theory.

It could be a matter of perspective. Burt Rutan was a very inventive engineer, but he was exactly that - an engineer. Rossy probably hired engineers, or had Team Breitling do so, in his pursuit of extreme sport. I think what he's done with it is pretty wildly cool ... but cool doesn't equal groundbreaking science. My $.02. cn
