Ah that sucks I'm sorry.. I preach this a lot but I believe sub irrigated planters and organic soil are the easiest and most foolproof way to grow this plant. If you can not mix soil I would look into buying a pre built organic soil from build a soil . And an earth box that is a lre built sip. Also the sip thread is a great resource.
How do used different fabrics for wicking? I would assume that 100% cotton would be the very best, I’m thinking about the necks of t-shirts. Am I correct in assuming that these plants can rot easily? What kinds of lights do you recommend? Thank you for all your previous information!

I use net pots and pete moss not fabirc pots, but a lot soft people do use fabric pots on the forum

I would like to thank everyone for all of the help! You are a kind and welcoming bunch. I have now read until my eyes are crossed. There are so many details! In my dreams I would just like to buy some buds(?) and make tincture. I see now why growing has gotten so very expensive. Things have changed a lot in 40 years. I may have to go back to the drawing board with this!
