Got a bit bored... and laid off work...

So I got a bit bored and I got laid off work. Screw the economy. Anyway, I had a bit of money saved up and my bills can be covered off unemployment anyways so I took a bit out of my savings and decided to grow some herb. First I had to find the space. So I gave up my bedroom. It's a master size bedroom, roughly 15' by 14.5', or something like that. Next, I had to decide on the number of lights I was going to use and wether I was going to go hydro or soil. Since I was going to have a lot of time on my hands, I opted with soil. Here are some pics of what I've done so far. Any comments, suggestions, or questions are welcome. Thanks!

fans really depend on your lights. You could fit up to 9 1000w bulbs in that area. Or as few as one 600w.
So it really depends on, whatcha gonna do?

I was thinking of building tables... to catch runoff water so I don't mess up the floor. If I do that, I'm thinking of just going with some parabolic 1000 watt lights. I know, I know, they're not as efficient as horizontals, but I can get them for dirt cheap. So that's where I stand as of now. I'll have more pics today.

I wanted to fill that room up, not exactly 9 lights, that's a bit much, I was thinking more like 6?

So I went out and grabbed some more stuff from the store. I bought the lights and all the wood I would need to build my tables. I've been at it for a while and I managed to get the walls covered in that white reflection stuff and with help from a close friend, we got the tables framed up. I'm waiting on another source to bring me some sheets of FRP, fiber reinforced plastic for those of you who don't know. It has nice reflective properties and you can wipe it clean. Well here the pics.

Here's the west wall. I put duct tape anywhere there was a joint. Don't mind the white plastic you see there, I'm going to discard that idea.

While I was in the closet, I papered up this little corner on the shelf, might use this to house clones later, who knows. Just thought I'd do it while I was there.

I covered the opposite wall inside the closet as well. This would make a nice spot for a few mothers later on.

Tomorrow I'm going to assemble all the lights, hang them, pick up a panel box with timer, buy my exhaust fan, and finish up the tables. I will have pics tomorrow night hopefully.

BTW, I talked to a friend and he has a whole bunch of clones for me. Train wreck, yummy!

So I'm finally going to bed and calling it a night. Here's a few pics of what I did today.

I cut out a sheet of plywood, I thought it would be sturdier than drywall, and added a flange for the 10" ducting.

Finally got my exhaust fan! This thing is powerful, can't wait to see it work. I'm hoping it keeps the room cool enough with all six lights running.

I was up the attic and I noticed it was a bit small. Just so I wouldn't have problems getting the heat out later, I went out and got an exhaust fan. I drilled it on to a sheet of plywood and hard wired it into one of the outlets. I set the automatic thermostat a 110, so as soon as the attic reaches 110 degrees, the fan will kick on and exhaust it all within minutes. There's a picture of it before and after install.

Here's a few more updates...

I picked up my panel with built in timer. This thing was heavy so I had to make sure it was on a stud. It has eight, 220v outlets and four 120v ones for like fans and stuff. The three breakers are 20amp and the main one is a 40amp. The guy at Home Depot helped me out so hopefully I don't start a fire or I'll go kick his ass.

This is the monster that kicked our ass all morning. I had to hang this thing off studs as well. I don't the sheet rock would've held it up... It's hung on some chain with bolts and washers holding the chain. The ducting I have on it is temporary so don't mind that.

Here's an update for whoever has been watching this shit. I still haven't gotten the FRP yet and the Home Depot I went to was backordered on some gutters and holders that I needed. So I can't finish the room yet. The problem is that the plants need to be transplanted. So I had to clear out a few rooms in the house and build something real quick while I finished up the master. I together some crappy tables, hung four lights to cover all the plants, and transplanted. As soon as I finish the other room, I will move them there.

Here's a picture before I transplanted them. Notice they're kind of droopy and shiny. I dipped them in Einstein oil to get rid of the few mites they had and prevent more from infesting them later on.

Here's a little over half of them on a crappy table I put together real fast and covered in paper. They're in 1 gallon pots, I believe, with Sunshine Pro 4 soil.

Here's a different angle. Notice the reflection paper on the walls isn't as neat as in the other room. I just threw the fan in there too. Ballast on the floor... Just messy.

I'm going to finish hanging all the lights and ballasts tomorrow. I might get a picture of that. If not I won't update until I get the tables done and everything moved over.

Since this is a journal, here's a few vital details... I fed them Botanicare Pro Grow. The ppm was at 450 and the ph was at 6.15. I also added Super Thrive, Humic Acid, Fulvic Acid, Enzyme, and some Earth Juice. Since they were freshly transplanted, I didn't water them much, mainly just in the center. They didn't flush out the bottom. I also followed the rule of thumb when it comes to transplanting... Remember, FLUFFY, NOT STUFFY! Lol, that's all for today. Peace out RIU members.

Very nice setup man, you won't be needing any job with that setup you got there! One thing I'm worried about, maybe you should just stand your subber up and not hang it from the ceiling. That thing must be heavy and might cause some structure problems later on. But thats your call, good luck man!

looks good. setbacks are rough so hang in there if they happen. on my fourth year and still encountering them sometimes.
cleanliness is the biggest thing to watch dirty areas can cause alot of problems.

I'm not too worried about the structure. This filter weighs 250lbs. max. I'm sure the studs will hold it. Thanks for the input.

I'm done with the room. So yeah I finished it before the clones are going in. They're not in yet. Been busy helping a friend move I know, I know, this picture thing is a pain in the ass. I'm a noob at this computer stuff, if anyone can tell me an easy way to post pics that would be great.
