Goodbye G. Gordon.

He's dead. Something comforting about that, just knowing that he was not some sort of immortal.

I'll say this about him, he was more honorable and honest than most of Nixon's men. I used to listen to him on the radio when he first got started in that career. He would come on after Stern and before the "shock jocks" Don and Mike. It always pissed him off mightily that Stern was allowed to end his show whenever he felt like it. This meant that Liddy had to wait until Stern ended before beginning his show. When Stern would run late, Liddy might be waiting for an entire hour. Hard to keep a froth going for that long. Then Liddy would want the time back and would demand to cut into Don and Mike's time. The two shows actually shared a studio so it got kind of testy. Liddy pushed the point too far with station management and ended up losing and the hour in contention was awarded to the shock jocks. Just to really irritate him, they would just play amusing recorded sound clips until their actual start time at 2 or 3.

I saw him once in town in his un-missable Rolls Royce about a quarter mile from the Watergate. I laughed and waved. I kinda liked the guy. Still, was glad that he lost that hour as I knew how badly it must have stuck in his craw to lose the airtime to funny audio clips like this:
