I've been MIA for the past couple of weeks...how's everyone been? On my side of things I became MMJ legal this past Wedsday!! YAY!! Heh heh heh BUT I've been sorely disappointed with the couple of dispensaries I've been to so far! :-( the 1st one I went to, I explained my situation (I can't smoke anything that'll make me paranoid & have anxiety attacks) the guys recommends Critical Mass..it definitely gave me the up energy as I proceeded to clean the house & get shit down I've been meaning to do, but I was trippin balls inside my head!! Lmao...another disappointment is everythings fuckin grown hydroponically! The couple of strains that were grown Organically wouldn't treat my ailments!! Wtf?! I almost feel as though it was better left Illegal!! Idk I'm just wakin up but wanted to get that off my chest! Heh heh heh I feel better now! :-)

I have no idea why Hydroponics is the "preferred" method of growing. It's friggin' complicated, prone to many mechanical, electrical, and human factors/failures, and is in no way "natural". I'm not knocking Hydro, if it works for some, so be it, but to me this shit is not that complicated so why add more variables to the mix?
I quit smoking pot for years because it made me paranoid and gave me anxiety. Then I started growing GREAT weed that suited me perfectly in organic soil. I have smoked some awesome hydro weed, but IMHO, organic weed is just better. I have yet to find MORE potent weed than I am capable of growing, AS potent, but not more so. Anything that can be grown hydroponically can be grown in soil. Just my opinion.
 
Its not all hydro,it just depends on who's harvesting what,you will be seeing assloads of soil grown bud within about the next month.

Mine come down in about 3 weeks so thats 6 weeks to market.
 
Hey Jack,
For me it's the comfort level of knowing I can leave the place unattended for a day without being here.
It's also something in my psyche I guess. I come from soil, I will return to the soil one day and in my entire life have known nothing but soil. I understand it. It's a living thing. Its an understanding that has been passed down through generations of farmers and gardeners. it's 100% natural. I'm fascinated by the science behind hydroponics, and mb one day I'll do an aero grow because IMHO I think it's the best hydro method out there. But that's tomorrow. Today and for the near future it's all about the soil.
It even smells wonderful.

See, it would scare the shit out of me to just leave for a day or so with a hydro set up. I have enough trouble trusting my mechanical light timers, let alone anything else that could (and my luck, WOULD) break down. Just me and my comfort zone, I guess. I know plenty of people who swear by it. Like you, I trust soil because I understand the biology behind it. I've always been in soil, and I know I ain't gonna improve Mother Nature.
 
Congrats on getting legal! Yeah I went to disp one time to check out what they had and was pissed when I got home $65 for an 1/8 of chem dog. Stuff was harsh,tasted like hay and had premature beaners...WTF is that
 
Hey TD, I have the same issue as you, I get severe anxiety from weed. I have tried a bunch of strains, Sativa and Indica and I've yet to find anything that doesn't set it off.. It's usually the first half hour of the first buzz... Then after that I can smoke and be ok.. But anxiety/Panic attacks are a bitch.
 
Yeah I panic sometime as a result of it too. Like a little anxiety fueled freak out session, it's rough man. I stopped smoking for 7 years because of it.

On another note, I've smoked some hydro bud that was just as good as any I've ever smoked from soil. It really just depends on having your setup dialed in and mastering a particular strain. Then again, even taste is subjective so to each his own.

Then you have the other people who just take it way too far and act like they can taste every little nuance in the bud. I always make fun of my uncle because he only likes hydro, he swears he can taste the dirt in dirt grown bud. I told him for a guy who's been smoking since 1969 you sure do say some dumb shit :lol:

There are a couple of guys I know in my area that have had some of the best bud for years and it's hydroponically grown. I think its no coincedence that they both only offer one strain too. A lot of people grow for fun (like me) and try out all kinds of different strains but some people just stick to mastering one method and one strain.

One of these dudes Apollo is the best around. $125 a quarter and he can't keep it in stock. I would never pay anywhere near that but then again that's just me, people that go to the dispensaries pay it all the time. I can't stay far enough away from a dispensary....
 
Actually man, you can taste the dirt, it's a earthy taste that doesn't come with hydro. I happen to like that flavor mixed with a little spice and citrus. :)
 
Yeah I've heard that before. I can't really taste it myself but I probably just don't have that discerning of a palette. I do like the spice and citrus though :lol:

I can never taste the special taste in organics that people talk about either, I always saw it as a marketing scheme.

Stump...Try Some Blue Cheese or Headband. I have a patient that is from Cali( I think Anxiety is on there MM list?) and she swears by Blue Cheese and so do I. I suffer from anxiety and take xanax for the disorder and I don't need my xanax when I have Blue Chesee. Only problem is keeping it around:)

I hear ya.. 100% Organic Smoker here! Smokin Hydro is like smokin air & has that airy taste to it.. YUK! Has no character to it, but I digress I have smoke sum great hydro too.. but what made it great what you could tell it grown using COCO fiber.. That coco medium gave sum character.. ya kno!? Nothin beats Organic tho!
