Going to 12/12 - Some help please

Okay so this is what I have in mind before I go to put my plants into 12/12

1. top plants 2 weeks before going into 12/12
2. wait until plants pistols are 50% brown
3. Take all weed off plants, then dry out
4. once dried out put into brown paper bag (should I just place the bag on its side and put the weed into the middle so air is getting in and out?)
5. After 2 weeks of being in the brown paper bag put into mason jars
6. open mason jars 2 times a day to exchange air

Please tell me if all this is okay/give me some advice which could help, im quite nervous at this stage because I believe its not as easy as throwing it somewhere and leaving it until you want to smoke it

I'm confused since you have a 9 week gap between #1 and #2. I don't like the paper bag method. Better to trim buds and hang branches in a cool dark place with airflow but not directly on them. This usually only takes one week todry.

Yeah I know the gap, but I mentioned the topping thing because apparently its bad to do that during flowering

Sounds like you have a plan already whitch would work.There is only one differance that i like to do and that is i like to put the drying cannabis into a old cardboard shoe box this helps in the drying process it seems to draw the moisture from the wet weed alot faster.Also i would go for sealed jam jars once the cannabis is 100% dry not before,It is unreal how cured cannabis taste to uncured the taste seems to melow out no matter what the strain.If you want the buds to keep there shape then hanging them rather than laying them on the bottom of the box is the way to go.If wet cannabis is put in a cardboard box then it will not dry has the hung cannabis will it will be forced more compact has the moisture comes out and look smaller than hung cannabis whitch will not be compacted togeather.

Ah, I have never heard of that but believe it or not I have a carboard shoebox incase something of this came up!

So when I take the bud off I should put it at the bottom of a cardboard box?

Should there be any holes in the box?

I agree with Illegal Smile, def hang your buds to dry. You can even do this in a box, a lot of peeps on RIU have done so, so you can find all sorts of constructions for creating a box that you can hang your bud in. And yes, you will need air flow in the box.

I always hang for a week, then a couple of days in paper bags to ensure even drying (N.B if outside is dry, and inside of bud still damp - put in plastic bag to even out, then start to dry again. Then jars. Each to their own, just make sure they are dry b4 jarring or you risk mold.

A while to go yet, but good luck with it.
