Going from Veg Station to the Flower Station

Thanks for stopping by ... Looking for advice here on what to do ... I have what I call (2) different set-ups ... I want to have a vegatation station that will be set up in my closet, growing (6) seedlings. The medium that I will be using is Bubbleponics, and all (6) plants will be inside a 20 gallon tote ... (Usual Set-up so far from what I have seen) ... Once the seedlings are ready to be placed in the flower station ... I want to make sure that each seedling has enough room to maximize it's full potential ... I would like to continue using the Bubbleponics method, but I am wondering if I should go out and get (1) 5 gallon bucket for each plant , place (2) in one 5 gallon bucket etc ... Or do I just keep all (6) seedlings together from start to finish in the 20 gallon resevoir ... Again, thanks so very much for your advice ... each reply will definately get a + rep and will never fall on deaf ears ... Knowledge is the key to success !!:leaf:

I definitively suggest single plant-single rez over multi plant-single rez.

You're going to have problems with one rez and six plants.. trust me. Root competition is possibly the least of your worries too.

Mainyankee:I'd listen to Voidobject, he has a good point. You always want to plan for the worst case scenario. In a single plant single reservoir if something goes wrong you'll lose one plant. In a multiple set up in a single reservoir you can lose all of them. I've been growing with multiple plants in a single reservoir for a while an I've had too many close calls. I'm going back to one plant, one bubble pot. It's also a lot easier to handle, weight wise. HSA

lol HSA you think I might be a chick?

btw I edited out the "or she" part of your post.. yeah.. and if someone wants to report that go ahead LOL

Thanks so very much to both VO and HSA (+ rep the both of you) ... I was leaning towards going with the single plant per res., but just wanted to make sure my mindset was in the correct place ...That being said tho, any suggestions as far as how many air and water pumps ... I would imagine that as long as I used (2) 4 - outlet Air pumps I would have the bubbles for the resevoirs, and then go with a larger water pump to handle feeding to the Hub and then to each plant ...such as AAPW400 that would handle 400 gallons per hour 23/Watts - 120 Vac, or is that larger than what I would need ?

Again, thanks so very much for the quick response VO and HSA ...

The growing method you'll be using is bubbleponics, the growing medium would be hydroton, rockwool, surtogrow, sponge, rocks, marbles, ect.....
If you want big plants use individual 5g buckets, if you want less maintenance use individual 5g buckets, if your not sure you have all females use individual 5g buckets.

As long as you provide 1 Lpm of diffused air per gallon in your system you'll be fine, A 400gph pump is more than adequate for seven 5 gallon buckets (6 flower buckets + 1 control/epicenter bucket).

Happy growing
UCDWC~

Edit: If your doing a RDWC use wider piping connecting the buckets than what your using to recirculate the water

Yeah I planted 6 plants in a single res (bubbleponics method) and I realized once I flower, Ill have to kill the males AND untangle the root mass down there. Let. Me. Tell. You. Its an infused mess of gnarly pearly white vines down there.

I think Ill be cutt the stalk from the roots and pulling the roots (and cutting them) free from the root mass.

Lol man damn shyts kinda crazy round here. I've grown 5 plants in an 18 gallon rubbermaid tub on a 400 watt lamp and harvested 432 grams broke the gram per watt the grows still here. I honetly think I could do better if I had split the buckets up on one res and made them recirculate so I could handle each plant with the attention it needed individually.
Lolz man I can tell u going from veg to flower is not a thing the only thing I see peeps haveing problems with is not keeping the ph and ppm the same from veg To flower that should be ur main goal. U can switch up feed regimens from veg nutes to flower nutes makeing the transition no problem. Trick is just keeping ur medium elements all the same ie., ppm and ph.
Rofl man idk what kinda shyt I'm lookin at now here terrible advice.

Thanks so very much for the advice ... It looks that at the moment I am all set and will be designing the Grow Station to handle (6) 5 gallon resevoirs ... I have plenty of room to do this, so that is not going to play in the design aspect ... Great feedback as usual from all of my friends here at RIU !!
