"Girl Scout Cookie" Experiment

I had the privilege to grow "Girl Scout Cookies" that I obtained in Clone form. I ran with them twice and both times they seeded on me. This plant despite it's tendency to seed was some of the best I have seen and smoked in a long while. I have discontinued the current cookies strain and moved on to a mix with GDP, along with key lime pie. In hopes they does not seed. We will see.

But not to get off topic I have a spare 4x4 tent and all the required equipment not being used. I have been wanting to experiment with breeding for some time now. So my thinking why not sprout these "Girl Scout Cookie" seeds and see what happens. I am planning to harvest the pollen off males to cross several strains I have been growing for years. I am also going to hand select the best females out of the bunch. Mark and clone them. You never know if you find a winner. Maybe back cross one with the pollen.

It will be a long process but I am excited. Below are some pics of the tent and equipment being used. Also that is a tray of 96 "Girl Scout Cookie" seeds I prepared. :) I am planning to pick 20 out of those to plant.

Nice. Did you build the tray stands yourself?

Sent from my LG-LS980 using Rollitup mobile app

Nice layout, how many plants are you going to keep? Ebb and Flow? You need to start cutting the cubes into individuals soon, or they will be harder to work with, Just remember, that you can't keep them all (that sucks) so choose the healthiest, I have found that the tallest seedlings turn out to be male, more often than not. GSC is not a small plant, as you are aware of, so I would weed the seeds down to maybe 6 plants per tray, with cropping, and go from there. Happy Xmas

I saw a pretty sick painting of key lime pie at comic con this year. very colorful. i think it was outdoor tho.

I was planning to keep around 16-20, but we will see. I will be keeping them smaller and will be topping them regularly. So I can manage the height. I will also clean up the bottoms to keep them clean and limit the dead leaf. I will be setting up a trellising system in there too. Which will help manage the height.

This is an ebb and flow set up I have a 250 gallon pump for stirring in each reservoir and I have 450 gallon pumps to fill the trays. I will be using Jungle Juice 3 part along with Cal-mag for the base nutrients I will be weeding out the plants today sometime and planting them. I am going to use 1 gallon pots with a bag Grodan small croutons.

Thanks for all the tips and I may try and plant a couple of the tallest ones. To test that theory and see if those turn out male.

Well I ended up with 18 planted GSC. I picked all the ones with the longest roots to plant.

Hi everyone It's been one week and here is an update on the Girl Scout Cookies. The new girls or boys are doing well. :)

I finally I grabbed my pens before I was eye balling everything. When I filled the reservoirs last week the ratio I used was 1 shot glass Grow, 1 Show glass Micro, Half shot glass Bloom. It turns out the PPM was around 430, so I added 1 shot glass of Cal-mag Plus which brought the PPM's up to 560.

I also brought the PH level down to 5.9. I will be doing what I call "water maintenance", to see how often I need to water. I will check their weight every day and see how fast they dry out. I will water them once they seem to be drying out. This insures you do not over water them. This is a lot of times the only issue when growing. People will think its nutrient deficiencies. But it's most likely related to how you water them.

It's also been very cold here so I lowered the light to bring more warmth to them. It should help keep them stout and help me maintain height.

Hey CMC, I could be wrong but I think you've got stressed femmed seeds there and I don't think a male is going to happen. Anytime I sprouted some seeds I collected from my weed they were always all females. Plus doesn't clone only strains means no males? Another reason you won't be getting a males I would think. You should double check that boss.

They may be a little stressed from the cold its been really cold out. Even with the 1000w bulb in there running 24/7 the tent is showing 73f right now. Also I didn't have any pens for the first week. So I had to wing the PPM's and PH. The PH here was rather high. I have corrected those and will be monitoring that and the watering. They are a little heavy so I will let them dry out quite a bit before I water them again.

Clone form would only guarantee the clones made from that cut will be female. If any of those cuts seeded you can still end up with male seeds. This is why people still get male seeds with feminized seeds. We will see here with this grow though. If they all end up female even better I will end up with a great harvest. :)

ya but if you had a fem clone that produced pollen from being stressed, the seed it made will be fem. or worse hermi.

Ya we will see what these seeds turn out to be. They were from females that just seeded there was no pollen from what I could see.

The "Girl scout Cookie" clones I obtained from a well known dispensary too. The Girl Scout Cookie strain is not very stable and is prone to seeding from what Ive always known and heard. I grew 3 other strains next to these cookies in the same room too. None of those others seeded. "Girl Scout Cookies" is just unstable and seeds.

By the way everyone here is another update. There are roots showing on nearly every plant now. :) They are also showing some nice development too. They haven't been watered since Saturday morning. So I brought the PH down to 5.9 and flooded the trays just enough to barely touch the pots and roots. I wanted to do a light watering because they still had some weight to them.

do you know who the original breeder for the g.s.c. clone was? i just put 1 G.S.C. from h.s.o. in the bud room and am curious if its gunna be all that its cracked up 2 be.

Update: 2 weeks after being planted in the pots under 24/7 light. Things are coming along nicely and the roots are doing very well. I watered them today, last time I watered them was the last time I posted an update on Tuesday.

I forgot to mention I topped them all today. :) I top early and tend to top once a week from here on out. I like to get 3-5 toppings in before I flower. I also take clones and clean up the plants several days before I move them into flowering.

Hi everyone, I noticed the new growth since Saturday so I wanted to share. I topped them all on Saturday and you can see since then they have done quite well. The bottom shoots have started to stretch and the roots have exploded.

I also bumped them up to 800 ppm Saturday when I watered them. They seemed to take that feeding quite well.
